You know what we like? When the names of people we love (Jesse Hora) start winding up next to names of artists we worship (Si Scott; Alex Trochut; Hellovon). Not that we would expect any less of the designers, illustrators and artists we brag on so thoroughly. But still, every time it happens we feel like one of our kids just knocked out the class bully (see also: brimming with pride and high-fiving all around).
Jesse Hora (Dot Com), fresh off of the much cooed over Some Type of Wonderful (a project also shaped by the aforementioned Si Scott, etc.), took some time to fill us in on the distance he's traveled since '06.

Next year is just around the corner and the hunt for a calendar has begun in earnest. Sure you could probably pick up something with arresting images of tractors or your favorite sexy tennis player, but before you jump the gun on that purchase you may want to have a look at the prints that are part of Lifelounge’s Some Type Of Wonderful ‘09 Project. The designs — displayed last week in Melbourne — were part of a response from an array of gifted artists asked to typographically represent each month of the year. Jesse Hora, Si Scott, and ESPO are just a few of the talents assigned to the task, and judging by the results, we’d say they did more than a satisfactory job. Each limited edition monthly masterpiece is currently available in the Lifelounge store, but if you don’t feel like purchasing all 12 to help keep track of the coming year, you can always just get them all in the form of one all-inclusive calendar.

Our pal Stinger, the Netherlands-based designer behind Zeptonn Labs, has finally dropped his latest book project, Black & White Freedrawings. So named thanks to the no restrictions given, no holds barred approach to the 160 drawings held inside, the book offers over 132 eco-friendly pages of collab-y art between Stinger and house favorites like Jesse Hora, Undoboy, and Shin Tanaka.
If you were wise enough to get your hands on a copy of Stingermania, you already know that Stinger’s books are more fun than a water slide in the summertime. However, unlike his other publications, there are only 450 copies of the first edition of Black & White Freedrawings, and the heavy beast is unbearably pricey to ship internationally (75 bucksies). In fact, unless you do happen to live in Europe, your chances of ever touching this book are slim to none– which is a crappy thought, especially for those of us who are about to give away one of the only copies of the book to ever touch American soil (that happens to come with some very nice giclee prints as well)… Sigh.
Yes, we’ve got one. For you, from Zeptonn. And you can have it if you are the first person to correctly answer the following question: what philosopher initially inspired Stinger to get his Master’s degree in Philosophy? Leave your answer in a comment to this post, yo.

The word “blanket” represents far more than a piece of cloth that keeps you warm at night or the bizarre nickname for Michael Jackson’s pseudo-son. It’s also a groundbreaking online publication that serves to “uncover new, emerging and established designers/ artists/ photographers, showcase their talent and give them a vehicle for self promotion.” In the spirit of that mission, the folks behind the online artist colony of sorts that is Blanket Magazine have just released a limited edition collector’s edition poster featuring the work of fifty-six artists from all over the world. The poster cleverly resembles a patchwork blanket wherein each individual square features the designs of a specific artist. Included in the melange of masterworks are creations by the likes of Andrio Abero, Jesse LeDoux and the Spear Collective’s own Jesse Hora. Every limited edition poster arrives in a distinct sleeve with an origami fold that houses a reference guide to all of the poster’s fifty-six contributors. So if anyone asks you about any part of your fancy new decoration, you’ll feel warm and fuzzy about knowing thanks to your ability to give a dissertation on each artist.

Spear Collective member and pal Jesse Hora has been hard at work creating some great illustration work for Adidas, and if you live in one of twelve major US cities, you’ll finally have the have to opportunity to check out some of Jesse’s work up close. In fact, it might be tough to get away from it, as his artwork will be covering everything from walls to bags and holiday boxes. Each Adidas location, which includes stores in places like SoHo, Berkley, Miami and Chicago, received a different grouping of illustrations, making each stores design a little different (and making Hora one busy guy). Check out all of his illustrations here.

The brainchild of Australian graphic designers Rebecca Brown and Tanya Mckay, Blanket Magazine is an online publication that aims to “uncover new, emerging and established designers/artists/photographers, showcase their talent and give them a vehicle for self promotion.” So far, Blanket has produced five issues, each of which is available for download on its website. The issues focus around a theme and are released in four sections (to keep us all in a constant state of giddiness). Past releases have included “The Yellow Issue” and “The Urban Issue.” The latest issue is “The Face Issue,” and it features Spear Collective badass, Jesse Hora. But you don’t have to be friends with us to contribute to Blanket. Anyone can do it, simply by following the instructions here.
With a really clean site design featuring what I can only hope are original sketches by Brown and Mckay, along with a blog of their own which highlights other worthwhile design-related stuff on the internet (oh, that’s what a blog is? Thanks Dan!), Blanket Magazine is definitely worth a look. And I have nothing witty to add to that.

If you’ve got some extra room on your plate for blog-consumption today, head over to feedmecoolshit.com, where our boy Jesse Hora is featured as today’s dose of uh, totes awesome shit. It basically says what we already know (Jesse Hora is one of the baddest %^#$!% around), but the new Kickers House of Holland shirts — what a quaint way to say I’ll totally do you for those shoes.
And just for the record, it makes us happier than a toddler with an Otter Pop when we see our Collective-ers posting up all over the internet, so if you ever happen to find them somewhere off the beaten track, let us know (so we can brag on them some more- they deserve it for being such badasses).

Our friend Jesse Hora is a man on a mission and from the looks of things, it doesn’t seem like he’s planning on slowing down anytime soon! Jesse, one of the artists responsible for bringing us BLAME Clothing, has showcased his works of design, illustration, photography and more on his new site, JesseHora.com. The self-proclaimed “glueman”, probably for his knack to bring amazing things together, will be joining forces with MODE, a collective of designers, animators and artist, this summer to add motion design to his bag of tricks. His site is constantly being updated and with so much new stuff to come, it is definitely worth a visit!
