It’s been a year since Star Wars Series 1 was completed with the addition of an evolved R2D2, and we’ve just about ran out of the Force during our long wait for the rest of those extra-nerdy flash drives. Good news: the days of staging attacks on Darth Vader with old Barbie dolls are over, because the rest of the intergalactic posse is about to land. Star Wars Mimobot Series 2, which is expected to ship in late January, 2008, will introduce four new characters: Luke Sywalker, Princess Leah, Han Solo, and bounty hunter extraordinaire, Boba Fett. Like all the latest mimobots, Luke and his pals/lover will come preloaded with exclusive digital content ranging from wallpapers and screensavers to icons and avatars – and will play you a sweet little Star Wars diddy whenever you insert or eject them from your PC. Lock yours up with a pre-order from either mimobot or Star Wars Shop.

We have kept you informed about Mimoco’s gradual release of their Star Wars Series 1 Mimobots, and we’re happy to report that Series 1 is now complete. The missing link was R2D2– and it appears as though evolution has worked rapidly with him, as he now has arms and legs. Despite his recent adaptation from robot to Mimobot, I think he makes a worthy addition to the Mimo family. Mimobots are souped-up USB keys for those of you who don’t know, and make for a great holiday gift idea– they’re inexpensive, fun, and functional. Most Mimobot designs (in 1, 2, and 4 GB sizes) should be available to purchase before the holidays, but you have to pre-order the Star Wars Series 1 bots, and they won’t arrive until about January 9th (just in time for people to head back to work with lots of data to save). We’re already betting on what Star Wars Series 2 will bring– I’m hoping for Princess Leia.

A few weeks ago Mimoco announced the kick-off to their Star Wars series mimobots with Darth Vader, an instant classic. Our wish was granted with the second addition, the chewbacca-bot, we could have sworn the third was going to be obe-wan, but we’re just as pleased with the announcement (you heard it here first) of the Storm Trooper-bots. As usual each are available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB sizes and are done in limited edition of run of 2,500. Each bot comes with tons of exclusive content, be sure to pre-order yours now!

The guys over at Mimoco recently announced these Darth Vader Mimobot Flash Drives– to be released in January ‘07 in a limited run of 3,500 units. As usual they’ll be available in a few different sizes: 1GB, 2GB and 4GB, starting at $80. These will no doubt sell out– but what’s even more interesting are the open three spots for other star wars figures. I’m sure we’re going to see a Luke– but what else? Storm troopers anyone? Mimoco, if you’re listening (and we know you are), we want a chewbacca-bot!
