Social Revolution. The thought of it has been woven into 2008 like an election campaign narrative. Change, equality, sustainability — all huge ideas in need of huge effort to bring them to life, and even bigger efforts to make them succeed.

Hector Estrada, an established streetwear innovator, head of triko, and the man behind the newly emerging Amivectio, believes in this revolution. According to Hector, it’s a literal revolution, set to change the industry, change the conformity, and most importantly changing the shirt on your back. He might not have the answers yet, but he's trying hard to find it.

The term “trade show” is often associated with large, impersonal convention spaces, a sea of promotional booths, and spokesmodels galore. Cargo, a new alternative boutique trade show taking place on July 21st and 22nd at Rewind in NYC’s Lower East Side, flips that notion on its head. The exhibition features products from Amivectio, FLÜD, and triko. Cargo has also replaced the traditional trade show setting with a more relaxed environment, opting for a lounge setting where exhibitors and buyers alike can chill and do business. Unfortunately for the tired, huddled masses, admission is only available to related industry professionals and not the general public. But, we have a feeling that could be you.

Triko, Hector Estrada’s New York-based line of street wear, has finally released their Holiday 2007 Collection. Featuring sweaters, woven shirts, hoodies, tees, and one very limited edition track jacket, the collection offers more of the soul-infused style that that we’ve come to love with plenty of original plaids, graphics, and a little bit of environmental consideration. It doesn’t seem like Triko has updated their online store with the new products yet, but until that happens, you can browse pics and build your wishlist here.

Good news for Triko fans: The Fall 2007 collection is now up for grabs at their online store. The bottoms are good, the tops are better, and the hoodies – which by some act of God, have remained, for the most part, blessedly untouched by current industry trends- are classically Hector Estrada, designed with soulful creativity, not hype, in mind. Overall, Fall 2007 makes another bangin’ success of a season for Triko, and will soon be followed by next months Holiday 2007. If you’re desperate for a look-ahead, a video of the holiday shoot, shot in Brooklyn by the illustrious Fubz of Beautiful/Decay, can be found here — but those in search of a quicker fix can just cast their gaze upon this crispy trench coat. I’m thinking, yummy.

We wrote about the Triko brand back in November– an awesome story about a designer celebrating individuality, creativity and mastering the Art of Life. They finally got their own online store up and running so you can purchase these unbelievable pieces directly from the creator– this is the CMYK hoodie shown, gorgeous.
