If I had pets in NYC, they’d be eating and drinking out of bowls that looked this good from Doca Pet.

Most shelving units lend a sort of rigid organizational structure to those things you need to store within plain sight. Unfortunately, when things get tight you’re often forced to cram your belongings into that confined space for results that are none too pretty. Rather than impose structural limitations on your personal storage space, why not remain a tad bit flexible by employing the use of the ever-so playful Stretch Shelves. These aesthetically pleasing shelves designed by Pete Oyler are comprised of a vivid assortment of ultra-sized rubber bands wrapped around aluminum pegs that are as agreeable to the eye as they are to your compartment quandary.

Really interesting work from Sofian Tallal, an industrial designer in Amman Jordan. I love this Chiseled faucet!
The “Chiseled†concept is the first of a high-end bathroom/kitchen faucet range designed as if carved out of a block of chrome. The wide base, extended neck and rear-mounted handle provides a dynamic profile reinforcing the stealth-inspired sharp edges and flat facets.

Wallpaper’s just launched a new interactive portion of their website which aims to catalogue and document a selection of products their editorial staff likes. They’re adding new items to it regularly so I’m sure it’ll come to be useful, or at least inspirational. Great selection of goodies which are browsable by room or product. Check it out.

The Split Ring Key: Another great product from Scott Amron, the designer behind the New Soap Old Bottle we covered a few months ago. Carry your keys on your other key. Real working key blank. Key blank can be cut by any key cutter to fit KW1 or SC1 keyways.
He’s also selling a 30% stake in his “Split Ring Key Blank Patent”… I inquired to find out how much he is looking for. Via PSFK

In what reminds me of a cross between storage Tupperware and tiffin lunch carriers, updated to modern times, the Innate food containers are just what my pantry needs. They are BPA-Free and Phthalate-Free (try saying that 3 times quick), so you know that no nasty chemicals are leeching into your food even when heated. The containers are made of durable 18/8 steel while the tops are made of silicone. The best part is the top fully collapses to fit flat on the container, yet expands and doubles as a bowl. It is also microwave safe which is great since metal and microwaves don’t play nice. There are two sizes available with three color choices.

Your urban sensibility is already apparent in mostly every aspect of your existence. Whether it’s the way you dress or the the music you listen to, everyone knows that you’re watching the streets. When you escape the sidewalk’s influence and return to the calm shelter of your abode, however, it’s a different story. Your staid coffee table only tells visitors that you’ve gotta put your feet up somewhere, saying nothing of how you’ve got your prescient eye on the hustle and flow of current culture. Well then maybe your furnishings could use a change that’s more in keeping with the tempo of the next song on your iPod. Might we recommend the incredibly hot Scratch DJ Coffee Table from the divine minds and able craft-making hands at Bughouse Art & Design. This pine turntable facsimile with chromed out legs and a glass tabletop allows a place to put your kicks up at the end of the day and to show off some choice vinyl without accidentally scratching it up with some faulty needle play.

Some might think having your own coffin in your house is morbid, but not William Warren. In fact, the furniture and product designer created Shelves for Life, a build-it-yourself Ikea style bookcase that, after you’ve expired, can be reassembled into a coffin. Not only is it good for the environment, it’ll be one less thing your family has to worry about when dealing with your remains. The kits sell for $579 (or 350 GBP) a piece and come stained in a classic blonde wood which just begs for some serious customization. Creepy and awesome.

If you’re truly a typography geek, then why stop at just outfitting your office and your bedroom with lust-worthy fonts? We just spotted this rad translucent soap created by Debbie Chialtas at The Soap Lab on the design site FredFlare. The square soap features raised letters and punctuation and we’re geeked about the fact we can get clean and look fresh while doing so. Just one thing to note – the “Crushed Ice” scent means it smells like peppermint, though logic says it should be fragrance-free. Well, that’s it, we’re off to sniff the ice in our freezer. And, for writers, The Soap Lab also offers a “Writer’s Block” soap that features a gluttony of words to get your brain churning.

Loving these new metal spun planters by Pad Outdoor. Each are hand spun recycled aluminum, which makes them ultra-lightweight (made in the USA) and sexy. Yes, I just called a planter sexy. They’re available in six different colors and launch at Dwell on Design show in LA in a few weeks and the NY gift show in August. No word yet on pricing.
