Just fresh back from London where it looks like my new agency will be opening an office, (more on the agency a bit soon), and with only a week at home here in Boulder, I’ve decided to make a major and life-changing move — I’ve packed my apartment up, shipped and stored what matters most to me, sold what matters least and I am officially a nomad (read: Jetsetter). I’m feeling both terrified and a sense of freedom I’ve never really experienced before now. I’m off early tomorrow morning to Taiwan (didn’t get enough of Taipei those night markets last time around), followed by some downtime and exploring in Bali and Java with my brothers. After a few weeks in Indonesia, I hop back into NYC for a couple of speaking engagements, into London for a handful of meetings and from there the adventure continues — I’ll be living and planning my next stop (or not planning) on the go. I will live in hotels, friends couches, and hopefully, the guest bedrooms of rich and famous. My mission is to explore, meet new people, find new dynamic content for this site and aggressively build all of my businesses around the globe. Maybe I’ll even put up a poll and let you all decide where I should go next. I know I don’t often use this blog for personal reflection anymore but thought many of my readers would actually like to know what I’m up to as this site grows and widens the lens with a great set of new writers from around the world. As always, if you have any tips, contacts, etcetera in any of the places I’m going or want to engage me for some consulting/speaking in any of the places mentioned above, please feel free to drop me a line.

I’ve had a few requests for more photos from the earthquake-torn region of Indonesia where my father and little brother are currently working. My little brother shot all of the following photos of children, destruction and rebuilding (see them after the jump). Read their blog from Java for more details!

“They were sour and didn’t seem to care about playing with me. At the start, the kids were pretty attached to their parents and did not want to play, but after a couple close up magic tricks together with the universal game of hide and seek, they moved outside to make noise. Before long, I was attached at the hip and I couldn’t get away from them! With children, there is no language barrier because of the laughter. I am happy to be able to get them away from the feeling of having their world completely destroyed. Tomorrow we hit the mountains for more playtime.”

After a grueling 34 hours of travel, my father and younger brother finally arrived in Java just miles away from the epicenter of an earthquake which caused utterly-massive devastation. The needs there are far greater than anyone in their group had expected, thanks to mass-media tucking this issue far into the back pages of the news.

My father reporting from a remote village says:

There are enough supplies to last one more week here, just enough food to serve the families of these 3,200 children. Then the money is gone. The red tape is too much to get through to apply for government funding so this group, like so many others, are solely dependent upon outside help. Each time you read another post, I will ask you to donate, to call someone you know, to send them a link to this site, to help the thousands of people here in this beautiful country get their lives back.

Earthquakes create a certain type of massive destruction that is nearly impossible to imagine. Seeing is truly believing. Structures that stood for 50 years are violently shaken as the earth sways and grinds, reducing all but the most heavily reinforced houses of concrete and wood to nothing more than a pile of dust, stone and rubble in less time than it took for you to read this post. We drove into the heart of earthquake zone this afternoon, a village called Pleret. Densely populated streets now lined with end of the world devastation for miles and miles. Everywhere we looked, there was nothing left.

Please take a moment to donate, read their blog from the streets of Java and support their amazing efforts!
