new russ mills

Our friend Russ Mills has a new batch of prints ready to release to the masses. Since his entire stock sold out in less than a day last time I made him promise to give us a heads up this time. And, he delivered. The prints will go on sale at exactly 2pm GST tomorrow (8am EST). The prints are still priced at £25 and they look amazing as ever. Have a peek at the prints here, then go back and buy tomorrow. Be quick, they never last long.

Our friend from Texas, Matthew Williamson (Earph Exbihtions), just dropped some new prints on us. By ‘new’ I mean space, future time, secrets of the universe new. We had our eye on Williamson before, and we’re totally loving these new prints. His new work definitely takes on a new age sci-fi feeling. Maybe it’s the pending Star Trek movie, but we’re digging it. Four new prints are available in various sizes, as well as a few of his older prints are still in stock. Have a look through some of his past Japanese inspired plant-life and patters. Keep up the good work Matthew, we’ll be watching.

HEYLADIESPRINT.jpg Back in January, LA’s Gallery1988 paid tribute to the Beastie Boys with Under the Influence, a group show featuring Beasties-influenced art by Alex Pardee, Dave Flores, Jim Mahfood, Mear One, Tristan Eaton and more. Today, the gallery made available three limited edition prints from the show: Scott Scheidly’s “The Brass Monkey Has a License to Ill,” David MacDowell’s “Hey Hey Hey Ladies” (shown here), and Casey Weldon’s “B-Boys Unite.” Each print is limited to just 25 pieces. Interested? Check availability by calling G1988 at: (323) 937-7088.

Russ Mills is one of our favorite artists, despite the fact that his prints are so hard to get a hold of. He keeps the prices of his prints at the premium price of £25, and the quantities are low — consistantly selling out his entire stock before we get a blog up, much less a purchase. So we contacted him and asked him to give us a heads up next time. Well, here’s the notice: NEW RUSS MILSS PRINTS AVAILABLE!, this time with a really sexy future ninja influence. Russ’s explosive painting style has delivered him a lot of notice over the past year or two. He ships worldwide, but since the prints are very limited edition, you should realize that means you’re competing with the world. Have a look at his past works in his full online gallery, but the new stuff is all in the store.

Chuck Anderson Wondering Off into Space: Read JS Review | Buy It ($30)
A new book by one of our favorites featuring Chuck’s catalog of illustrations and photographs, new and old. Themes of his works include sharks, space, light bubbles and colors that make you think you are traveling through time. Just a note, it comes out early December.

Lina Scheynius: Read JS Review | Buy It (â‚12)
The very intimate photographer has collected some of her most telling images into a book. The very minimalist design let the pictures speak for themselves: romance, travel, haircuts, sleep, nature and the capturing of light that will stop you in your tracks. Plus its super cheap.

Russ Mills: Read JS Review | Buy It (£25)
Just a warning, his prints are hard to get hold of. They sell out quick and come in limited quantities because his prices are great and his artwork is better.

Obey (Shepard Fairley): Read JS Review | Buy It ($25-$50)
We all agree it was a good year for Obama, but it was also an amazing year for Shepard Fairley. His Obama Hope print has become a fixture not only of the art world, but of the political world. Unfortunately, his the famous print is sold out, but Obey still has some amazing prints.

Jeff Soto Storm Clouds: Read JS Review | Buy It ($41)
Robots and rainbows. So many of Jeff’s paintings begin that way, but then they become so much more. Storm Clouds is a journey through Jeff’s world, as dark and innocent as it can be.

Dyna Moe’s Mad Men Illustrations: Read JS Review | Buy It ($3-$21)
These are obviously perfect for the holidays. Really classy 60s style art — even if you aren’t a fan of the show. Perfect for your cards and thank you notes. A few larger prints are also available for a few extra bucks.

Michael Latimer Surrogate Print: Read JS Review | Buy It (£60-£90)
Michael might be most known for his skateboards and t-shirts, but he wowed everyone with his Surrogate print. We called it a bit of a Murakami nightmare when we first reviewed it, but it has become one of our favorite prints of the year. Available in red and blue.

Si Scott Smoke and Mirrors: Read JS Review | Buy It ($5.95)
Everyone needs a deck of playing cards, especially for family reunions. Might as well make have a trick up your sleeve. And by trick I mean Si Scott designed cards. His beautiful matching decks (one smoke, inverse colors for mirror) are the only ones you need, hands down.

Design Supremo: Read JS Review | Buy It (£4-£270)
Just to cover all bases, the Design Supremo print factory covers a large pool of artist and their creations. If the other items on this list hasn’t set you off, browse through their collection of prints, clothing, thumb drives, coffee mugs, buttons, cards, books … well, everything. If you can’t find something there to give … bah humbug.

If you were to ask Amy Casey what she would have been had she not been an artist, she should answer a city planning manager. Just taking a quick browse through her work gives you a peak at her visionary arrangement of housing districts. Little clusters of homes strung from a wire, supported by roots, and balancing on stilts — it almost like a Dr. Susses interpretation of the housing crisis. A collection of her new paintings are on for display November 15 (that’s Saturday kids) at the POVevolving Gallery in L.A. Even better you can order a nice limited edition print of the work pictured here.

Shen sent us a email in our handy tip button in the top right of your screen letting us know about her illustrative portfolio. Her artwork feels like the images for the nursery rhymes we were never told. Alongside displaying a few of her collaborative works, she has four series of illustrations and a look at her sketchbook. Then there is the all important store were we found this gem: { bunncula }. The print comes with blue or pink eyes, your choice (just like a J. Crew sweater). Have a look at Shen’s visions of the world and watch out for zombie/vampire bunnies.

If you are a long time reader of JoshSpear.com you'll know that we've raved about Monsieur T a lot. (Monsieur T is the limited edition line of street wear clothes designed by Portland based artists and founded by a French dude, just in case you forgot). We've always loved their T-shirts and followed them through all their clothing lines — now it is time for some art. A new set of fresh prints that you would expect from the T just launched on their site. As expected, they feature Portland based artist and are all limited edition and signed. Now you can style your walls as you would style your wardrobe.

The explosively expressive British illustrator Russ Mills has updated his gallery with new prints. Which is good news. For one, it is always nice to see some new works from great artist such as Russ. Two, new prints to his online store should be coming soon. If you can't wait to get some Russ on your walls then have no fear, he will be taking part in The Rud Propeller Show in Devon beginning this week. He'll be there in person on the 21st (that's Thursday). Buy him out and set up your own online Russ Mills print shop, you'll double your money I promise. As for the rest of us, check out his new illustrations in his gallery.

If a springtime rainbow were to collide in a dark alley with Dan Funderburgh’s latest print, “Gravity’s Rainbow,” it’s a pretty safe bet springtime rainbow would die. His take on the fantastical spectrum of light is a three-color letterpress print comprised of layers of sharp objects such as scissors and cleavers. Funderburgh’s creation is available in two editions at I Am Still Alive, a Brooklyn-based site for socially-minded design. The first edition is a signed and dated open edition on Speckletone Madero recycled archival paper and the second is a numbered limited edition of 26 prints on Rives BFK archival paper. Hurry up and get your hands on one, but watch out for paper cuts.

Matthew Williamson, the brains behind the Austin-based design house Earph, has just launched his new Earph Exhibition. The artwork, comprised of his diverse web projects, includes Japanese print patterns, a television serving as a gateway between robots and nature, and various plants with an artistic license. Williamson makes it all look good. In case you’re looking for a few pieces for around the apartment, he has put some work up for sale in varying print sizes and even a few signed canvases.

The design studio Sawdust has released their first print, Cassette, available for purchase now. Each of the limited-edition prints of the unraveling tape has been hand-printed by K2 Screen with golden ink onto black canvas and sells for £35, which these days is like $200 U.S. or something. If you want it, snap it up soon as they “limited” means there are only 100 of them.

Zoe Regoczy is a U.K.-based designer with a load of new prints available in her shop. Her style doesn't include a lot of variation, mostly layered colors of girl's faces. Well — not just any girls. These girls are dangerous, like James Bond's femme fatals. Her prints aren't on sale, but for £20 we're tempted to redecorate our walls with the faces of our lovers from when we were spies. Check out her site for a full portfolio and sketchbook.
