Last week I did something new around here, for the first time ever, I made a product, and tried to sell it. It was pretty funny, because in all honesty, I wasn’t trying to sell 100 t-shirts to make any money — it was just to make a great product and experience the whole process. Some readers who just joined us might have forgotten that last December I pledged 10% of my sites profits straight to charity. I intend on doing that again this year, hopefully raising the bar for other sites to do the same.

After receiving some loud criticism from readers on the price tag of the Momimomi X Josh Spear T-Shirt, I immediately decided to donate 100% of my profits to a charity that you, the readers of this site, help me choose and decide on.

Here’s the catch: I won’t be lowering the price, but my hope is to help facilitate the giving of a couple thousand dollars this year through the sales of this shirt to those in need. So, if you’d like to make someone’s life better in a developing country, support research on clean water efforts or anything else we’re all passionate about (comment below), as a bonus, get what we think is a brilliant and fun limited edition t-shirt for your contribution.

If you make the donation and get the shirt, please leave comments here or via the feedback form on where you’d like to see the money go.

Australian street label Young Lovers has just launched it’s third collection of limited edition tees, and just like seasons before, their slightly kooky, run-of-100 shirts are well worth the overseas shipping rate. Dubbed MIDNIGHT TWILIGHT, the new series “celebrates the madness of midnight love” (an apparent reference to what happens when grown ups hit the pillows and kids take over the world) and features plenty of tongue-in-cheek Aussie sass. Even though we’re pretty crazy about Young Lover’s graphics, our number one favorite thing about the company is their commitment to small batches of great tees, so if you know or someone you know thinks that’s as awesome as we do, head here to see what you can find.

Something about Art Basel must have left our pals at The Love Movement feeling extra goobery, because the crew of L.A. based artists have put together another super nice holiday giveaway to say thanks for the past year. Included in the loot are hand screenprints, TLM tee shirts, Yo! What Happened to Peace? books, and even a few art pieces from their past gallery shows. All you have to do to get in on the love is watch this video to figure out want you want the most, then shoot an email here with your address, a list of your top three choices, and something nice you did this year. TLM will do what they can to get as many goodies out there as possible, but I’m assuming your odds are higher if you hit them up soon, so get moving!

When Lausanne’s Art School, ECAL, moved in to a new building this past October, they asked designers, artists and architects to design 20 tee shirts for the occasion. Swiss designers +41 (who you’ll remember from several posts regarding chocolate AF1’s and other goodness) got in on the project, and are now offering their design, as well as eight others, for sale in their online shop. The tees wound up looking spiffy, and you can can scope them all (including this one by Philippe Decrauzat) just by clicky clicking right here.

The team at Brooklyn-based Mishka NYC streetwear packed a ton of new amenities into their relaunched site, which is as dope as the punk approach they take to their clothing designs and graphics. Read up on their daily ruminations and curious finds on the new blog, plan your fall wardrobe with a peek into the lookbooks and catalog, check out an oven-hot mix from Trouble & Bass’ Math Head (I can’t get it out of my head!), and of course, go shopping — they’re marking the site’s redesign with the second launch of their online-only tees, two of which were drawn by Evil Design. Fair warning though: These tees are in a limited run of 20 to 40 each, so best buy ‘em before they get cold.

Danny wrote about Oddica just a little bit ago, and basically told you everything you’ll need to know about the t-shirt selling, profit sharing outfit. What’s happening now — the reason I’m writing about Oddica again so soon — is that they’ve released the t-shirt equivalent of a box-set. But not one of those irrelevant compilation box-sets where any true fan already has all the material and all you’re paying for is some extended liner notes and cardboard packaging, oh no; The Boombox Trilogy consists of three new shirts (available separately, but new, nonetheless), five really nice buttons, and an “exploded boombox” messenger bag. You can be sure you’ll be the only guy/gal in the subway with the exploded boombox bag because Oddica is only selling 63 trilogies, each one with a number to authenticate it. And how much do you have to spend for three t-shirts, a messenger bag and five buttons? $59. Not bad at all.

No, I’m not trying to get you to join the next Hale-Bopp cult. Stupid Devil is an art label that sells t-shirts, art prints, and vinyl toys featuring some crazy characters drawn by the artist Bard. Nothing too serious though; Stupid Devil has set a goal, nay a mission, of bringing art back to the “stupid” people instead of the “authoritarian, pseudo-intellectuals”. Basically, they’re bringing art back to the masses. And while they don’t expect everyone to love their stuff, they do expect a reaction.

They have a full-page manifesto that qualifies as nothing short of a good-humored rant about art and creativity. My personal favorite is this: “your requests for conceptual meaning with be met with a kung-fu fist of fury.” Gotta love a sense of humor like that!

I know how excited some of you get when I write about $70 t-shirts, so today, in your honor, I’m going to up the ante and give you something you’re really going to love. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the $186 dollar tee-shirt. Based on the traditional dying techniques and patterns of the Ryukyu Dynasty, YOKANG’s tees, skirts, and Converse Hightops, are starting to see some heavy hype in the Tokyo and Paris design scene. The dyeing process, called Bingata, reflects the unique culture of Okinawa, a characteristic evident through comparison of the patterns and textures of YOKANG to the traditional Japanese kimono. Aside from the layers of historical meaning in a YOKANG piece, most of them also offer the wearer a tasty side-dish of badassness. I’m sorry to say it, but the pricey shirts are super good-looking, and offer the wearer a sort of a gargoyle-ish charm. The winged shirts (check the Guardian Deity (pictured) and the Asian Phoenix) are my faves, followed by the most of the Converses, especially the Tribal Phoenix. So take a look, then leave me another snarky comment about how lame expensive tee-shirts are. I can handle it.

First of all: we are not trying to keep you indoors over the weekend. However, what we are talking about is a design contest Spreadshirt is running in hopes of finding a new company logo, and since I know logo design is right up many of our readers alley, I thought I’d share. We’re also talking about a MacBook Pro, an interview in Computer Arts magazine, an interview on Computerlove, and $3,000 dollars — and since I know that is right up everyone’s alley, I thought I’d share it on a Friday. Sorry.

I don’t really understand why Spreadshirt is putting forth such a grand effort to find this logo, but any contest that includes a la Fraise community prize (meaning people that don’t even enter can win something), and over $15,000 of prizes — on top of all the goodies that will go to the first-place winner — sort of piques my interest. This is big people; bigger than a weekend, even. Full details here.

If you’ve got some extra room on your plate for blog-consumption today, head over to feedmecoolshit.com, where our boy Jesse Hora is featured as today’s dose of uh, totes awesome shit. It basically says what we already know (Jesse Hora is one of the baddest %^#$!% around), but the new Kickers House of Holland shirts — what a quaint way to say I’ll totally do you for those shoes.

And just for the record, it makes us happier than a toddler with an Otter Pop when we see our Collective-ers posting up all over the internet, so if you ever happen to find them somewhere off the beaten track, let us know (so we can brag on them some more- they deserve it for being such badasses).
