If the popular saying that one man’s trash is almost certainly another man’s treasure is true, that might make a dumpster (or skips as they’re call in the UK) the equivalent of a jewelry store. While we haven’t seen any diamond encrusted watches being peddled out refuse receptacles as of late, we think that might be a plausible undertaking for the likes of Oliver Bishop Young. The eco-conscious UK artist specializes in converting large rubbish bins to suit more enjoyable activities such as skating, swimming or just plain lounging around. So, the next time someone calls your living space a dump, you might not consider that such a bad thing.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac might have a remarkable name to say (try it) but he also has quite an impressive rap sheet considering this as his first solo show as an artist. Coming from a high profile fashion background, his artwork makes several references to his fashion career (as in labels everywhere). In fact, it isn’t just labels but brands of all kinds that infest themselves over classic art pieces. Thought provoking work to say the least.

The show is at gallery Paradise Row, a small gallery in deep East London. It is totally worth the trek through apartment buildings because once you get inside the space is amazing. Castelbajac’s show is paired with a Mad Max-type installment of wood shops and houses. The show only runs till 2 May, so get over to it quick!

We all try to eat healthy, but what do you do when it’s mid-afternoon and you need a pickup, but you need to stay at work? Usually that means a vending machine snack. That was until we discovered Graze. It’s a simple concept: fresh fruits are delivered to your office every couple days. Their website allows you to choose the natural snack you’d like and how often. Then, whatever day you select, a little box arrives just in time. Unfortunately it’s U.K. only. Delivered boxes begin at £2.99, which usually is cheaper and easier than running down to corner shop, and Graze has a special promotion running for half off your first box.

We’ve been following the work of Neil Duerden for a few years now. So we were thrilled when he launched some updates to his website and prints. Neil is known mostly for his stunning work combining organic photographs with explosive colorful scenes. His new work features his amazing ability to take images to new levels and almost other worlds of color. Check out his new works on his portfolio site or his blog. He’s opened up a few of his images to be purchased as prints from Click for Art.

In this era of mass production, it’s pretty common to happen upon a killer tee only to find out your not the first to sport it in public. Despite the disappointment you must press on with your unique fashion sense. Muazo, the British online shop, features some of the dopest designs outside of the realm of the big brands with items ranging from hot hoodies by Tolky Monkys to ever-so slick backpacks from Built NY. And, there’s plenty more where that comes from.

We have a blog crush on Takashi Murakami. So any chance we get to see some new paintings by him, we are totally all over it. Opening today at the London branch of Gagosian Gallery is something of a warm up show before a full on exhibition of new work at the Gagosian in Spain later this year. The show includes three large scale paintings … and … well, that’s kinda it. Like I said, it’s a warm up event. The paintings come from his Time Bokan series (pictured) and KaiKai and Kiki characters. So if you need to get your fix of millions of little flower faces you’ve got till April 9th.

Russ Mills is one of our favorite artists, despite the fact that his prints are so hard to get a hold of. He keeps the prices of his prints at the premium price of £25, and the quantities are low — consistantly selling out his entire stock before we get a blog up, much less a purchase. So we contacted him and asked him to give us a heads up next time. Well, here’s the notice: NEW RUSS MILSS PRINTS AVAILABLE!, this time with a really sexy future ninja influence. Russ’s explosive painting style has delivered him a lot of notice over the past year or two. He ships worldwide, but since the prints are very limited edition, you should realize that means you’re competing with the world. Have a look at his past works in his full online gallery, but the new stuff is all in the store.

Royal Mail has unleashed British Design Classics, a series of 10 stamps commemorating several very special creations that the Britons have given to the world. The tribute not only covers obvious innovations like the Routemaster double decker bus (which most certainly led to the sandwich) and the K2 Telephone Kiosk, but it also tackles a few less iconic items such as Polypropylene chair. So give those limey bastards the credit they deserve and gaze in awe at the pure ingenuity of the Queen’s loyal subjects…or you can just send someone a letter.

Remember Superflex? The Danish art group that came up with the free beer concept? Well get ready for some more self-descriptive titles for their two new projects. Flooded McDonald’s and Burning Car are two films they’ve created for South London Gallery. The recently opened exhibition will show two films a film where a McDonald’s was recreated down to every detail and flooded it. When we first read this we laughed out loud. Only one photo has been released thus far from the film, but their recreated McDonald’s looks incredibly accurate and ridiculously wet. The second film, Burning Car is … well … a car burning. The video has been released in a low-fi youtube version here.

Let’s get this straight: there’s exposure and then there’s Explosure. Tierney Gearon’s newest exhibition relies on the old trick of double exposure to create some really surreal and amazing visuals. Pair that with the large scale photographs and its really an amazing body of work. A ton of the photographs are up at Designboom’s website, but if you are in London you should definitely check out the exhibition because the photographs are big — like huge big. They’re on display until January 27 at the Phillips de Pury auction house.

We talk a lot about artist on joshspear.com, but when we get to talk with artist its like peaking inside their head full of amazing visions. Sickboy’s Stay Free is full of scary, amazing, funny and just wacky visions. The show is best described as an art playground. He took over a building (not a gallery) and put up paintings but also a sweet factory, weird girls in mask walking around, paintings planted in pots, a house to walk through (check out our exclusive pictures of the opening night for a better idea) and of course his iconic temples. Sickboy’s Stay Free is an entire world and in this interview we walk hand in hand through that world.

A lot of artists are adopting blogs to show their work. The World of Wes (or as he calls it WOW) is more of a blog showing the life around his work and of course his paintings. Putting up post of Christmas trees and his recently dead parrot (sorry Wes) alongside his great little art canvases just fits. He works with smaller canvases that almost create a comic book frame feel. Given he has a painting of two cacti in love or the one of aliens preparing to blow up the earth, a comic reference might seems like the right thing. Check out his blog for a little look at the context surrounding an artist we hope to hear from more.

There are artists who create crazy amazing paintings, and then there are artists who create entirely new worlds. Sickboy falls into the latter, and his new show in London, the Stay Free Factory, is a chance for us to enter that world. In his first major solo show Sickboy is shooting for the moon. He has transformed an entire Victorian Grade II listed building in East London into a 3D playground. He isn’t denying the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory connection — actually he’s completely embracing it by giving away the installation to the lucky recipient of a golden key. The project is only up for a week, so make sure you plan a visit. While only one person can win, many can buy. A new set of prints, paintings and mini installations will be available for purchase on the launch date. Don’t miss it. No pictures of the factory just yet, but they will be coming.

Date: December 4th through 10th; noon till 6pm

Location: The Tramshed, 6-8 Garden Walk, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3EQ / Tube: Old Street
