The overall graphic impact, evoked through the distinctive silhouette and angular black ash wood legs, add the sophistication of furniture to an iconic game often overlooked and undervalued. BLACKOUT elevates the former basement novelty to the conversation piece in any environment, allowing those late night hours to happen beyond the local dive bar to our favorite social spaces.
Typography nerds unite– Scrabble now looks great with this Tyopgrahy Edition. Made from beautiful solid walnut, for $199.
Six years in the making, the luxury leather goods brand by influential designer Milan Franeta is soon launching their flagship store in the heart of Los Angeles. Starting out with a designer denim, he’s held the title of Creative Director at some powerhouse brands, including Gilded Age. In 2006, as a personal hobby, he turned his focus to fine leather goods, challenging himself to apply the same attention to detail that he had for denim.
Sandast was the result. The brand, named after his three children, produces each handcrafted belts and bags. The initial launch is comprised of two dueling personas – American Rugged and Italian Vintage. American Rugged is comprised of classic pieces that invoke a sense of history; something that is meant to be handed down generations. Meanwhile, Italian Vintage clearly is inspired by Franeta’s European upbringing. The bags are a little bit more chic and would feel right at home on the streets of Milan (no surprise there). The items are produced in America and Italy, respectively.
A limited portion of the catalog is available for purchase in the online shop but for a better look, check out their store on Hill Street, in Los Angeles.
Time is the most ubiquitous thing we experience. NOOKA presents a graphical representation of time that transcends the linguistics and math that make telling time—creating a truly intuitive experience to tell time, set alarms, and visualise world-time/timezones.
Features include a timer, stopwatch, and most importantly a beautiful world-time option.
You can try it out for yourself and download it now through the iTunes store.
I’ve been heavily testing (read: beating up) a new Calypso Case for more than a month and it’s easy to say simply put, I’m impressed.
Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia the founders are hand making iPhone 4 cases which are simply perfect in fit, function and design. They’re made of conite, titanium, leather and specially designed microfabrics.
In their own words: Why should a phone case interfere with your style? Carefully selected curves. Suitable dimensions. Not too heavy. Not too light. Sleek and nice. Shiny, but not too overly so. Glossy, but just the right way.
I agree. If you’re iPhone case shopping, give these a look.
Fun kids storage unit named Quackie by E-Glue, a design studio for kids in France.
If I had to pick a favorite– it would be the Ceramic Big Pilot’s Watch with Perpetual Calendar shown above. Stunning in person, I promise.
Big Pilot in Ceramic and Titanium. A nice twist on the classic model.
Big Pilot Worldtimer, I should probably have one of these.
And of course, the new Miramar. I’ve seen a few different strap combinations and I’m partial to the brown leather, but the green canvas is still really solid.
P.S. The booth was incredible. Full flight simulator, aircraft carrier details down to the screws. Check out the behind the scenes footage of the making here.
Gift Couture will offer high-quality wrapping paper sets that feature original photography and design. Their main goal is to produce unique papers that coordinate together into conceptualized themes and sets.
This is exemplified in the Cheeseburger set that they chose to use as this initial project. This includes 5 different wrapping paper designs; a bun, hamburger, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, all of the components of a Cheeseburger!
I do prefer wrapping with newspaper or something recycled, but this is fun. It’s on Kickstarter right now. $584 of the $7900 goal.
