Okay, this is some seriously out of the box thinking. What do you think?

Whilst it’s good to see people thinking about different ways to build roads, I don’t think this particular project is the solution. Off the top of my head I see a number of potential problems which do not seem to have been addressed.
1) These panels are flat, however the ground and hence roads are not flat. How will roads be graded laterally and longitudinally with these panels?
2) Roads are various widths and go around bends, how will these panels fit on a curved road, of varying width?
3) Secondly roads get wet, what happens when a joint fails (and joints will be required as these panels will expand) and water gets into the sensitive electronics?
4) Is the idea that these panels will just replace the asphalt wearing surface, or the entire pavement structure?
First thing I would do if I was woking on this project is to change each panel from square to equilateral triangles, and make the size of each panel much smaller, maybe 15 x 15 x 15cm.

Pretty cool concept, but lets be honest, this is not something anyone in our lifetime will ever see..people in our lifetime wont even see the end of our oil dependency. One farm sized field of solar panels would power a city the size of los angeles 10 times over, but we as a human race cant even get that going. Its fun to dream but this is not a reality..just my opinion
