Okay i’m impressed. These chairs featured over at Tree Hugger are completely made from reeds, straw, flax, sugar-cane, sisal nand jute, aka all high cellulose based agricultural crop, aka papier machesque.Made from 100% renewable raw materials. They make a handful of accesories, accoustic instruments, and that bangin chair featured above. There creation of raw products is called “hempstone”. Neat!

I’m a sucker for someone that can play the guitar, really, really, really well. I’m even more a sucker for Kaki King, who on her new album Legs to Make Us Longer does just that. She proves how well she can play the guitar, and damn it’s good. Her new album sounds a little more aggresive that some her older stuff, I don’t know quite how to describe it, but it’s a must listen. She fuses her interesting contemp/modern playing styles with a few other string instruments, and occasionally what sounds like banging on the guitar itself. Oh, and there is no vocals the entire CD. Not her, not anyone; which makes this a very clean music CD.

Update I was just chatting with her publicist at Big Hassle and he corrects me here, the last track has some soft hushed tones, her singing very quietly. Oooh, going to listen now.

Starck large Multi Weather Staton Clock. Yes, key word being Starck, Phillips design, but apparently the interface is a mess according to the folks at Wireds Gadget lab. Bt still, how cool is this superclock? Barometric pressure, humitity, temp readings, forecast for cloud, sun, and rain for those of us that live in a room without windows. You can hit a button and the device projects the time in giant red digits onto your celiling….

It spits out all sorts of weather data, plus moon cycles and ties, in one undifferentiated mass. I’d have to be woken up by its alarm clock before I could focus on all the information though. Still, a Phillpe Starck designed weather station super clock computer thingy? He’s gotta have one of these too, right?!
