I got a chance to check out some of Jason Thielke’s work a few weeks ago during first friday of the month art walk in Denver. Just about everything I saw that night produced sleepers in the corners of my eyes–except this guys work. His website is pretty bad, in need of an update, so I’ll honestly say that nothing up there reflects his talent. After some more google sleuthing I found a few more images of his work on Fecal Face, but alas, none of his newest works. He is some budding talent for sure though. He works in illustrator, and transfers his vector drawings to canvas and woods giving a unique look and feel.

Jason Bruges has created “four interactive sculptures that act as giant litmus papers, sensing and responding to a variety of environmental stimuli, such as daylight, wind, and tides in the riverside area”. These interactive sculptures are placed in the London Borough of Havering and tower 12 meters high. They’re built of steel frames and acrylic structures–with an array of LED pixels. The sculptures will no doubt generate questions like, what do all these numbers mean..? One of the southern towers displays the power generated by the neighboring wind turbine while the northern tower counts and displays the amount of traffic entering in the area. Interesting to see more interactive art installations popping up– each sensitive to something in its surroundings and environment.

An article on Guerilla-Innovation led me to finally address this developing body advertisement trend. This whole human space advertising business–as much as I want to ignore its absurdity, is catching on quickly. Most of us have heard about the 20 year old fella’, Andrew Fischer who sold his forehead for $37,375 to SnoreStop, some pharmaceutical product, and the swimsuit model Shaune Bagwell who sold space on her chest for a little over 15k to an online casino. Fischer is selling more space on his site he calls Human Ad Space–weird. But it gets weirder, there is now a site literally selling Body Billboards– categorized by body parts, the site works as the middle man brokering human flesh for advertising space.
