Between June and November ‘04, 10 pairs of concrete dunks, which were numbered and contained a card with a release date, were placed throughout various stores around North America and Europe. The group of stores, like Huf in San Francisco, and Nort in both Berlin and NYC, were chosen for their constant involvement in a developing street culture. You can now check out the site for more documentary, including pictures of the shoes at each individual store, and stories from each of the locations during the drop. These are a shot of a set that broke somewhere down the line. Some of the pictures of the original look so real in detail, it’s hard to believe they’re cement–In one description of a drop at Huf, they said a cleaning lady tried to ‘kick’ them out of the way, boy she must have been surprised!

Tank Theory is a great t-shirt and art print shop out of Boston, started by two school friends. Together, they bring nice engaging graphics to their t-shirts, and many of the same design directions have inspired screened art prints that are available in a limited edition. Along with their standard t-shirt line, they have a monthly edition, so they always have fresh shirts for sale. They use a water based ink technique, and all their shirts are available in traditional, as well as a slim fit.

The Design Idols are a line of posters created to idolize industrial designers in a way that rock and movie stars are. Each poster has a graphical representation of the well-known designer whose visionary work has inspired us in the past, joined with a personal quote on design. They’ve got 10 posters, from a nice collection of designers, like Tom Dixon, Karim Rashid, Michael Young (shown) and Marc Newson. The Design Idols series was created by a young group of Belgian designers, calling themselves the Disorder Collectiv. They’re printed in a limited edition of 1000, and of course every designer was contacted personally and approved the concept and supplied a quote.
