I’m off to today to Maison and Objet, in Paris. “10 Years of Trends, Encounters, Passion and Home-Style”. This will be my first M and O, and I’ve heard nothing but good reports from past years. Of course, I plan on hunting out the best restaurants, stores, and shoppes off the beaten path. More to come upon arrival! As always, if you have tips, must see stores, obscure but great shops, restaurants, art galleries, clubs, or anything else– drop me a line.

I’m not telling what barely-legal file-sharing service you’ll need to use to get ahold of the Blue Eyes Meets Bed-Stuy Mashup, by Dj Cappel & Smitty–but it’s worth the hunt. There have been some pretty great unauthorized ‘mashups’ in the past few years– Jay Z’s ‘grey album’ with The Beatles was a clear hit. This entire CD is entertaining and entirely listenable. On this one, Biggie meets the original king of NY, Sinatra. Biggie’s a capellas are mixed almost flawlessly with original beats and samples from Frank Sinatra records, go cop it, I’m telling you! Highlights include Nasty Boy meets For Every man There’s A Woman, and of course Juicy meets New York New York.
