Acquiring real artwork shouldn’t be about whether or not you can stomach the huge price tags on good and inventive artwork these days. This project called the Acquired Art Crusade is about being lucky enough to come across art in an unusual way and aware enough of what your giving and receiving– as not to miss it and accidently give it away. It takes the class system out of ownership. The project was started by a close artist friend of mine who chose to remain anonymous for obvious reasons. There are around 450 bills in circulation, each is uniquely stamped and hand screen-printed. More images after the jump…

As the gift giving season comes closer, be sure to head on over to Iluren to check out some interesting possibilities for designer gifts. They have an excellent selection of unique pieces by contemporary designers. No heavy plug here, their product selection is truly hand picked. I’m mostly impressed by the selection from independent designers, like this Glass pitcher hand blown and designed by Nicholas Kekic from Chester, Vermont.
