My Japanese is a bit rusty so I can’t say much about the history of Japanese design brand Metaphys. I can tell you that all their products look incredible though. The furniture and electronics are neat, but I found the Gardening Products to be most interesting and aesthetically pleasing. A smooth futuristic touch to any urban garden or office!

I’m constantly drawn to designs that take the simple or mundane and make them feel rich and luxurious. Similar to +41’s New Rich Collection we saw a few weeks ago, Ambre France is a small line designed by a young woman in England. Solid silver cable tie rings and bracelets, gold plated jubilee clip rings, and special handmade Valentines Day Chocolate Rings. It’s obviously too late to order the rings in time for Valentines Day, but they were too good to pass up mentioning.

The friendly people over at Volkswagen are at it again, producing an amazing little car and great promotions to go with it. The Audi presence can definitely be felt throughout, especially in the front façade, and with a top speed of 130 mph and 7.1 second 0-60 time, it's definitely got Fast. That's right! It literally comes with Fast! In Volkswagen's latest promotion, you receive their mischievous, customizable, little character “Fast” from those funny commercials along with the purchase of your GTI. Fast comes with your choice of 4 different tails, which really add to his character. The car isn't so bad either and has tons of options, including a navigation system, dual DVD players, iPod adapter, and a snazzy plaid interior. Plus, after designing your GTI you can “test drive” it with a German fraulein by your side, in a film that changes according to the options you chose. Unfortunately, Fast has quite a price tag, $21,990, since the only way to get one is to buy the new GTI. So, if you are lucky enough to get one just remember, keep your Fast under control! If you haven’t seen any of the Fast commercials you can check one, although not my favorite, out here

Since it’s Valentines day and all I figured I had to have at least one Valentine-related post. L.A. based design studio Exopolis created a homage to the old school mix tapes people used to make for each other on Valentines day back in the good old analog days. This is for anyone who ever pressed their tape recorder up to their clock radio to make a mix tape and talked between songs like a DJ. Thank heavens we can just make iTunes playlists and email them to people now! The flash is pretty entertaining, well done Exo, well done.
