The Glade just introduced a few new skateboards by Mekanism, the brand responsible for some fairly impressive skateboard to artist collaborations. This deck is designed by London-based design duo Warren Du Preez and Nick Thorton Jones. They describe this is as “a black and white mutating disruptive pattern creating an optical illusion of depth and three-dimensionality.” They also have an older design I love by John Madea, a digital animator and professor at MIT’s Media Lab.

With the almost frightening popularity of mobile ringtones, it was clearly only a matter of time before a company stepped up to the plate and enabled musicians to profit off the trend. Pocket Fuzz allows anybody to upload an MP3 and convert it into a ringtone– you can easily grab just a part of the song, or use the entire thing. Then you can send it right to your phone, and set it up for sale on your website or even MySpace profile.

Started in 2002 by Jeremy Bennett, Commune is a designer’s collective built to support emerging, talented, and interesting artists from around the world. They produce a yearly range of unique t-shirt designs by artists in their collective (shown here). Artists like Chuck Anderson, Kasper Fjederholt, Suzie Kelly are involved. In the note I received from Bennett he mentioned the new range for 2006 is on the way soon! Shirts from the past are still all available for sale.

Design aficionados and dedicated techies alike will appreciate the thoughtful design of this stylish watch. Dubbed the Binary Code Watch, this time piece utilizes the Base 2 number system, used inside all computers, to portray the time. The bluish lights illuminate the green, circuit board face to represent powers of two 0 2, 4, 8, 16, or 32, generating a simple formula anyone can read, well, at least you, and the guy in IT.
