The Cable Yo Yo made it into my all time must have–to make your life easier tech equipment list– almost instantly. The latest piece from BlueLounge design in Pasadena California, the Yo Yo Pop, isn’t far behind. It’s funny how we carry around our futuristic teeny-tiny iPod nano’s but still have to deal with knotted cable wires from our headphones. This doesn’t solve it entirely, but it sure does make it easier. The Yo Yo Pop sticks to the back of any iPod (or phone) with a suction cup and turns into a belt clip or clip to hold your earphone cables. It also has 10 different interchangeable stickers to customize with–a little bit cheesy but a fun idea for simple customization.

The gold glimmer of a vintage Nike track shoe caught my eye as I passed by the front window of Amsterdam's premier sneaker boutique Seventy Five. Unfortunately, they weren't open, but the time I spent with my face pressed against the window admiring the collection of vintage, one-off, and foreign sneakers was worth it. A rainbow of colored Nikes, Adidas, and Asics litter the shop, but it is the monochromatic Rucanor F24 that is the real prize. Distributed to only 3 shops in the Netherlands, of which Seventy Five is the only in Amsterdam, the rare F24 makes a nice addition to any sneaker connoisseurs collection. Look for the Rucanor Kansas canvas high-top sneaker and Rucanor Netcourt badminton sneaker early next year at where else, but Seventy Five!

The warm, organic feeling of WonderWood is noticeable even before you step through the door of this shop, gallery, and design studio. Situated close to Dam Square, WonderWood exhibits the “wonder-world of wood†through a collection of furniture, art, and gadgets. Comprised of over 100 vintage plywood chairs and tables from the 1940's, 50's, and 60's, paintings on wooden panels by artist such as Ton van Kints, and a plethora of handmade objects including everything from children's toys to eye glasses. WonderWood is the spot in Amsterdam to visit for everyone interested in plywood art and design.

Sometimes you find a gem of an art gallery just by chance, such was the case with Reflex Modern Art Gallery. Located at Weteringschans 79a, slightly away from the tourist and coffee house laden Leidseplein, Reflex boasts photography and sculpture from famed artists such as David La Chappelle and Erwin Olaf, one of my personal favorites. The bare wood floors and white walls contrast nicely to the classic Dutch architectural elements of the exterior, creating a gallery fit for the unique works inside. In a city filled with classic painting and sculpture, Reflex offers a modern collection that brings together class, edge, and color. It's definitely not to be missed!
