The World's oil reserves are running out and the next few decades could see sharp increases in oil prices and growing dependence upon oil-producing nations. Concerned, a group of Danish companies and institutions have just released a visionary concept called H2PIA, (like Utopia) the world's first hydrogen-powered city. H2PIA will be a city based on freedom, clean energy, creativity, and fun where citizens will produce all the energy they need for themselves, sharing and selling the excess to fellow H2Pians and nearby towns. I can't wait to visit H2PIA when it begins construction in 2007 at a site in Denmark still to be determined. Suck UK, the English design team of Sam and Jude, produce furniture, lighting, interior products and accessories with glamour and pure industrial form. Their Union Jack Coffee Table has been featured in numerous publications including Esquire and Icon Magazine, but it is the new Time Flies Clocks that have won me over. The three clocks, New York, London, and Hong Kong, are shaped like their respective country and measure about 180 mm in length. The clocks are constructed of metal with smooth white faces and contrasting red hands that feature a small airplane on the end of the minute hand. Each clock has its own mechanism allowing you to keep track of time in 3 different time zones simultaneously with style and a bit of international flare.

Mimoco is back again, this time with a beautiful collaboration with British artists TADO and Jon Burgerman from Flying Cat. This first design called Hero, by TADO, is “a lovable but hapless rogue, desperately trying to make his way in the world as a fortune-hunting swashbuckler! Hero loves baking and jigsaws.” Available in several sizes and with only 500 piece made these Mimobots are clearly the best in designer USB flash drives, period.
