I’ve received quite a few comments lately regarding the fact that many, if not a majority of my posts are un-purchaseable goods. The rare, the obscure, the conceptual, etc. In the spirit of collaboration I’ve decided to start up a once-a-week post from picks at one of my favorite underrated shopping blogs, Product Dose. Without any further adieu I give you:

This week at of Product Dose!

An interesting way to hang up your dirty jeans: Dart Coat Hooks. Incase you get lost while eating dinner and need a map of LA, designed by the American Institute of Architects Convention in L.A.: Los Angeles 2006 Plate. A tri-fold wallet for those of you who remember life before laser printers: The Dot Matrix Wallet. And last but not least, I love recycled goods so, had to pick The Recycled Tire Waste Basket!

BlikCollaborations between companies have become extremely prevalent lately, but with some careful filtering you can spot the good and ignore the bad. One recent combination of forces, the wall decal meets t-shirt, is that between blik Surface Graphics and always favorite Threadless, fittingly named blik loves Threadless. Like the basis of Threadless, designers were invited to submit their creations, with the selected ones becoming blik wall graphics. Keeping in line with their existing product line, blik has opted for not one but two cheery designs as winners. First place went to 7.00 by Letter, which is composed of branches, leaves, and birds allowing you to configure your own nature inspired setting. The runner up, Happy When It Rains, by Singerstyler of Zepton, is filled with cute figures dancing amongst clouds, rainbows, and the sun.

Formed in 1947 by photographic luminaries like Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David “Chim” Seymour, Magnum Photos is an elite group of photographers who have documented major events both past and present (above are from the conflict in Lebanon). Their work is photography at its grittiest; hard hitting and real. There’s an incredibly high level of quality across the board and browsing through the various photo essays can be pretty intense and mind boggling as you fall into thee depths of their work. The recently released website, Magnum in Motion, displays all of the latest photo essays on a wide range of subjects and you can even subscribe to a weekly podcast, upcoming installments include “Hip Hop” and “The Path to Buddha”. Magnum dwells very close to the pinnacle of photo journalism and as they themselves put it, “When you picture an iconic image, but can’t think who took it or where it can be found – it probably came from Magnum.”
