Sao Paulo’s equivalent to Kid Robot is Plastik, which houses a toy heaven for adults. Besides being ground zero for the toys we’ve come to adore and obsess over (plus a few more not known outside the country yet), the store also has as a gallery space located on the second floor that’s accessed by a perilous, winding staircase. The Munny Exhibit just opened here, and as the namesake implies, it stars Kid Robot’s customizable Munny figure. The store distributed three dozen Munnys to Brazilian tastemakers – fashion designers, graffiti artists, art directors, DJs, illustrators, just to name a few – and gave them free reign to do whatever they wanted with their doll. The whole crazy lot is now on display. Gary Baseman, who was just in town last week, kicked off the opening. Check out more photos from the exhibit after the jump…

At its core, JoshSpear.com is about inspiration, great ideas and exploring what makes a fantastic experience (and to-die-for product). We review, write-up and talk about these experiences and ideas whether they’re gadgets, art, sneakers, restaurants or viral websites. Have you ever wondered who was behind all these great ideas, and how they achieved such awesome execution? I know I do– all the time. Behance is a new site all about developing knowledge, products, and services for the creative professional community. The entire team follows an incredibly well thought out philosophy they called Productive Creativity– and the execution of their site design, presences and overall aesthetic speaks strongly on how well they walk their talk. In addition to the daily content that peers into the lives and creative process of successful creatives, be sure to pop by the ‘Outfitter‘ and grab an Action Pad or two. Behance is about ‘making ideas happen’, after all what’s an idea without some solid follow through?

Men.Style.com is speaking the truth in their latest feature, More Taste Than Money: “The way the economy’s pointing, we may have to get used to living like this.” In the piece, they take us through a 21 item product guide that focuses on bang-for-your-buck items. Clothing, accessories, gadgets, books, film– they cover all of the bases– some great picks in there. They even recommend the Endo Clip to hang your dirty shoes on the fridge (as we did a few months ago). One flaw I’ll point out: they describe the Smith Serpico Aviators as “new”– c’mon, I got a pair of those bad boys last spring! In other Men.Style.com news, they’re hyping the return of faded denim this summer… could this be true? Say it ain’t so!

I have three things to say about all the hype around This Is Why I’m Hot:

1. The mere existance of flowcharts explaining the lyrics I’m Hot ‘Coz I’m Fly/You Ain’t ‘Coz You’re Not makes me glad I didn’t waste my money on college.

2. If Josh randomly quotes those lyrics to me again, I’m probably going to have to kick his ass.

3. People-Food’s parody of this painful song, on the other hand, is pretty bloody hilarious.

I’m loving the domestic disturbance, the designs, and the larger ideas that seem to define Munich, Germany based Blake Hamster’s first run of clothes. Although limited to 4 guys and 4 gals shirts, they’ve hit the ground running with an eco-friendly, socially responsible, creative, and passionate line. The shirts were sewn in Italy – at the same place as Escada, Chanel, and Etro – with soft organic cotton and seacell yarn. Blake Hamster seems to have the right ingredients to make their label work– and despite their high price point (100-150 Euros for a shirt), I’m sensing quality here and I see this brand surviving the initial hurdles. You should know that if you like any of their stuff, you should buy it a.s.a.p.– each style is limited to about 50 pieces this first time around.

“Hickery dickery dock, eat my bar and… pass out” says Robert Goulet about his Snooze Bars, which are meant to be consumed at 3 p.m.– so you can go to sleep and get nothing accomplished throughout the remainder of your work day. Responding to challenges that his bars are unhealthy, Goulet calmly responds “Health is a nonissue. As a regular Snooze Bar eater, you will spend close to 90% of your life asleep, so who cares what kind of shape you’re in for the other 10%?” The truth: Snooze bars are only a figment of Emerald Nuts’ imagination, and this is all a back-door marketing campaign. I have to give them a high-five for their humorous approach to selling their product– after all, selling nuts can’t be the easiest of endeavors. Although no one could ever do Robert Goulet as well as Will Ferrell did on SNL, the Snooze Bar website ought to be good for a few laughs. Also, don’t forget to download Goulet’s 3 p.m. lullabies– listen to them while eating the bar to fall asleep.

Jason Markk, maker of that awesome Premium Sneaker Solution I’ve been using for the past few months finally launched a site where you can learn about and purchase all their top-notch sneaker-centric products. In celebration of the launch, the first 25 people to purchase a Premium Sneaker Solution Set will receive a free Microfiber towel. Also, be sure to check out how-to-use page and keep those kicks clean!

The Volcom Creedler Credo is that footwear design is focused on aspects of style, function, and comfort. It was only a matter of time before Volcom got their hand in the footwear “cookie jar,” and I think they’ve done a solid job with their foot foray. They have both men’s and women’s ranges, and a variety of open and closed toed kicks, ranging vastly in style from the herringbone pattern you see above (left), to their eco-friendly line of flips. Oh, and how could I forget to mention their artist series of Creedlers, with designs by artists 33, Todd Bratrud, Damien Horan, Travis “Fudge” Millard, Pinky Pop 123 and Michael J. Zepeda? Volcom has always impressed me with the way it’s been able to appeal to both the masses (through their PacSun run of the mill gear) and the fashion-forward surfer types with their ever-progressing boutique offerings. If you ask me, the Volcom business model is the way to make it big in that biz.
