Tomorrow evening, from eight to twelve, Scot Lefavor will be showing his new work at JoyEngine in Boulder. I just popped by their studio to say hello, and everyone seems to be really excited about this show– the guys gave me a sneak peek of some of what Scot will be showing, and there’s no wonder why everyone’s amped. If you’re in town, head over to take a look– their art events are always lively and fun, but this one will be especially so because Scot is a Boulder local and a JoyEngine staple. DJ Nostyle and DJ Symmetry will be on the ones and twos, and refreshments will be provided. I think all the locals should know where JoyEngine is by now, but if not, it’s at 2037 13th St.

When people who work at a tea company still yearn for espresso, magical things are sure to happen. Organic coffee meets black tea in Yin Yang, the newest offering from Cha Dao Tea. It's refreshing with a light, subtle sweetness. You can distinctly taste the two different flavors, and they complement each other so well. Yin Yang is the perfect balancing act between black tea and coffee. Cha Dao is also the first company to make fresh bottled teas, so be sure to check out the entire line up (the Herbal Chrysanthemum is amazing!).

Refinery29 has been a favorite resource of mine when it comes to seeking out up-and-coming designers for quite a while now. Relying less on the runways and more on community input to forecast what you’re going to be craving next, they have an impressive cadre of designers assembled from all over the world. Along with an extensive archive of original topical content covering fashion and shopping, there’s travel and city guides, music reviews and and even their very own television channel. If that doesn’t make you want to check it out already, their fresh redesign should– clean, classy, easy-to-navigate and enough to keep you occupied for hours upon hours.

Yesterday, Seattle’s internet consulting team SEOmoz announced their Web 2.0 Award winners for the year. During the decsion process, the SEOmoz team took a hard look at hundreds of Web 2.0 sites and picked the crème de la crème in 41 categories. From that point, they chose 25 Web 2.0 experts to vote on the winners. After the experts voted, SEOmoz went even further to interview 15 of the top sites’ creators to give us all a little insight into the details of the creation process for a top Web 2.0 website. I’m definitely adding this list of award winners to my compilation of helpful 2.0 resources. Already, I’m seeing some sites I hadn’t heard of that I want to explore.

So my buddy Charles over at i’m in like with you decided to give us an exclusive public invite code after hearing about the response we’d had to the past two giveaways. So, for the next twenty four hours, you can join one of two ways:
- go to the site and enter the invite code “JOSH”
- click on this here link
It’s that simple. But you literally have 24 hours from this moment to do it: the code expires tomorrow at noon. And by tomorrow at noon, I mean Friday, May 11 at 12 noon EST.

Every year around this time, I get an ALL CAPS, exclamatory instant message from my brother, who’s slaving away in his cubicle at GSD&M in Austin, TX. Why would he be so excited on a Thursday, you ask? Well, it seems as though the lineup was just announced for September’s Austin City Limits music bonanza. If you have yet to make the trip to Zilker Park in Austin for this 3-day, 8-stage, and 130-band show, it looks like this year’s the year. Pictured here are the top acts– sweltering to say the least; they should go nicely with the hot weather that crazed fans will likely endure to see them play. The crazy thing is, when you see the names of the bands that fall below these biggies, you’ll be even more blown away. For those of you who make it to ATX for ACL, here’s some friendly advice: drink a gallon of Gatorade when you wake up in the morning, and when you get to the show, keep two Lone Stars in your holsters at all times.
