Ah, Mimobots. Nerdy enough to help us appear left-brained, arty enough to help us appear right-brained, and tiny enough to keep our top secret files close to our hearts at all times.

If you’ve yet to experience the flashiness of one of these flash drives, today is your lucky day, as our good pals at Mimoco have graciously unloaded some of their new tokidoki ‘bots into our wide open arms. These latest tech wonders are smothered in the classically kawaii artistry of Italian designer Simone Legno (who we interviewed not too far back), and combine cute and creepy to create some of the most hyped Mimobots to date. We know you want some, so here are your choices for retrieval: A) Battle off hoards of rabid tokidoki fans/throw down some significant dollar; or B) Get arty/nerdy with us.

Game plan: Study up here. Consider what those little ‘bots are up to (Satan pasta and pineapple bombs, oh my!). Write us a little creative short story explaining your theory (or haiku, or song, or algorithm — we don’t care, whatever). Cut and paste to the comment section. Cross your fingers and wait.

May 5th we’ll announce our first and second place winners — who will receive flashy prizes on an only slightly descending scale — and publish their entries. Okay….GO!

Sculptor Kim Laughton experiments with electronics and a love for the natural sky to create “Box of Clouds”. Laughton sought to create a functional piece of sculpture “for use use on days with uninteresting skies.” The selection inside cycles through 18 variations of striking cloud formations. You can also check out Kim’s diverse portfolio of other works.

If we had to choose between spending our last dime on a savory meal or a sweet T-shirt…well, we’d probably have to pick the meal. We’re practical like that. However, if the shirts in question were amongst the creations from c07, we might take an extra minute or two to ponder our quandary. The new UK-based apparel company promotes artists from the surf, skate and music scenes and pushes the boundaries of expression to make kick ass tees for you and me. The latest visionary to tackle the task of creating an original design for the upstart label is Emerica Europe team rider Vaughan Baker.
The Brit-born boarder’s limited edition T-shirts certainly make us want to forgo a good meal so we can look good while starving. If you want to snub food in the name of personal style you should act fast, because Co7 is only producing a limited run of 500 of these bad boys.

Very few people across the globe would confuse George W. Bush and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair with saints. Most can’t wait to see George W’s reign expire come January and are glad that Tony has been out of office for quite some time now. Filmmaker Mato Atom happens to be one of those folks who won’t fondly remember the Bush-Blair era as “the good ol’ days.” His online animated film Champions (Remembering the New World Order) is a look back at the dark climate these two world leaders created, using soccer as a metaphor to exhibit lack of respect for international convention and their propensity for not playing fair. While the film may be a little heavy handed in its political message, there’s disturbing beauty (and more than a little irony) in the instrumental version of “We Are The Champions” by Henning Lohner. No matter your politics, this film is definitely worth a look.

Google — despite being all brilliant and sexy in helping to narrow down any search you feed it — can reach its limit real fast. Like when I’m hunting down information on a Brazilian artist or graphic designer who’s piqued my interest. I’m often led to his/her photo community account stream rather than a more complete professional site. While looking for the story behind Thiago Campos, I did find a slew of his sweet collage-type work (you can’t tell on this photo, but the character’s shirt is appropriated from a photograph of a tagged-up building) self-posted on Flickr. It reveals he’s also into making novelty books and was recently invited to paint one of the rooms at Eastpak in São Paulo in his pop style. After a few more clicks and clacks on the keyboard I found the pro site of a Rio de Janeiro art director by the same name, an equally talented creative type with some big-name clients. Is this Thiago’s commercial alter ego? It’s a mysterious case of double identity? It’s a mysterious case of double identity. I’m working on solving it, but in the meantime, they’re both deserving of your mouse click.

So many energy drinks, so little bladder control. For most health conscious people out there, the biggest problem with the plethora of Gator, Power, Sobe, and other prefixed aides and waters is that we all want to believe that they’re doing a bit of good to our addled bodies. If you’re going to reach for a bottle of vitamin infused H20, shouldn’t you be able to quantify the goodness? The team at Activate Drinks realized that for the average one-a-day pill consumer, you need to be able to see the proof in the neon colored liquid. As you turn the cap of the bottle, a packet of essential vitamins and minerals is released into the drink — the thought being that you store your vitamins in a cool, dry place, why shouldn’t the same logic be applied to your vitamin drink? The flavor options come in low-calorie concoctions such as: Vitamin, Antioxidant, and Immunity. We’re sure there are scientists that could tell us all about the effectiveness of this technique, but honestly, after this weekend, we’re just looking for something to make our kidneys usable again.
