If you’re a firm believer that your laptop case says as much about you as the content of your computer’s character, perhaps you should stop lugging around your Macbook in that purple crushed velvet sleeve — it’s so 30 years ago. Instead you should consider toting your prized ‘puter in the choice new case collaboration curated by Arkitip. It combines the quality craftsmanship of Incase with the signature drip print that could only come from a design mind like KRINK. If you’re not convinced that this is the case for your hardware, we recommend taking a sneak peak at the process of putting together this unique piece of techno-luggage for your MacBook. Then head over to the Arkitip store and grab your own before they sell out.

Amy Martin designed these irreverent Time Travel Posters for McSweeney’s 826LA and the newest branch of the non-profit literary institution, the Echo Park Time Travel Mart in Los Angeles. With tongue wedged deeply into cheek, the voyage-themed posters feature vintage-feeling graphics paired with sayings like “Enjoy Fantastic Feudal Japan” and “Ice Age: A Winter Wonderland All Year Round!” They’d make a great present for a frequent traveler who runs into tacky vacation ads all too often. They cost only $19.99 each, but if you get all five in the collection, 826LA will take $10 off. All proceeds, as usual, will go to the organization. They go on display at the Echo Park Time Travel Mart tomorrow.

It’s safe to say that plenty of artists rely on their surroundings for inspiration. Hailing from a small town in the Bald Headed prairies of southern Alberta, Canada, Ted Stilson just so happens to be surrounded by things of a rural nature. Perhaps that explains the his fascination with cows. The sculptor’s latest project, Moody Bovinyls, sprung out of Ted’s desire to create his own platform toy, the need to revisit an art school curiosity, and the fact that cattle ranching is part of the world he grew up in. His half-bovine, half-demon vinyl creations have caused an admirable stir after being embraced by some of the sickest customizers in the world: PhuEK, DoktorA, and Marka 27. They’ve also been the subject of art exhibitions at both The University of Lethbridge and the Pravus Gallery in Phoenix. While Stilson’s goal with the Moody Project has always been to take the customs on the road, he’s currently working on a plan to release limited edition Moodys with designs by other artists.

Mike Heisler introduces three of the friendliest Slobots to date, expanding his world of functional machines turned personable friends of man. Two of the new additions, Slo-Damen and Slo-Herren, are boxier with an old school look. Their orangey-red color is well-suited for their occupations as operators of the Martian Space Port and Lunch Counter, the quaint, imaginary Red Planet establishment created for them by Heisler’s imagination. It reminds me of Rosie from The Jetsons.

The other new bot on the block is Slo-Dunny SERV02, a mechanical spy turned Venus ice cream franchisee. More like the previous Slobots, Slo-Dunny’s head totally looks like an orange with a peering eye in front and sweet looking canisters of essential gases wired to his back. The posable “ears” totally make this one.

More bots after the jump.

Joshua Gorchov has already done some impressive editorial/commercial graphic design work that has graced the pages of several major magazines, but his next project promises to be epic. In preparation Gorchov has launched a new website, The Big Black Cloud. The site marks the beginning of a collection of narrative heavy paintings that depict a man with a box shaped head and his curiously creepy world. Plus, the titles to his works are amazing: “Superhuman Strength and Physical Proportions” or “Miraculous Resurrection of One Sort or Another.” The exhibition becomes a journey of childlike innocence interacting with nature. And, like all good journeys, there is a blog and nice little breadcrumbs in his esty shop. We’ll let you know when exhibition details are available.
