In the past, the dapper Dutch apparel makers at Ontour have provided us with some deliciously wearable duds. This time around they’re proving that their attire can be downright addictive. Their fall/winter ‘08 line, Cosmic Crack Ontour is the product of a collaboration between the brand and fellow Eindhoven native Cosmic Crack (aka Crackrock), a botanical artist with quite the array of work under his belt. The co-founder of BetaMaxxx made the designs using a variety of different methods, none of which included direct computer imaging. Each particular piece tells its own unique story through design, whether referencing the architectural infamy that is North Korea’s Ryugyong Hotel or just playing on some people’s penchant for being clad entirely in tinfoil, every tee and/or hoodie in this collection has a deeper meaning beyond shapes and sizes…and they look pretty sweet too. See for yourself by downloading their lookbook.

Money makes the world go round, and as such, people will do anything to get it, even if it means degrading themselves to the point where they’re on a VH1 reality show. If you’re one of those who’d make a deal with Mephistopheles for the promise of a few extra bucks, then the new site GreedyPeople.com is for you. The daring for dollars website prompts users to declare what they’ll do for major (and not so major) loot. Challenge others to complete feats of strength and/or stupidity all in the name of cold hard cash. Once a task has been completed and evidence is displayed, that sweet, sweet, scratch reward goes to the greedmonger who may have gone to Tajikistan to build a treehouse or ran onto the football field and mooned a crowd during the national anthem. How much would you pay us to do either of those things?

Our old friend MWM (Matt W. Moore) got a nice push last week for his soulful geometrics when L.A.’s REVOLVE Clothing featured 16 new pieces from his Vectorfunk series at their flagship store. REVOLVE boasts a synchronized online and physical store, allowing shoppers to request clothes online which become available in the store the next day. We didn’t get a chance to head out there, but you can check out photos of the event on MWM’s blog and REVOLVE’s online store.

With a cast as diverse as that of JJ Abrams’ Lost, there’s more than enough room for multiple toy tributes. In contrast to the detailed doppelgängers released by McFarlane Toys in 2006, the upcoming line of Lost Kubricks from Medicom Toy Co have been paired down to the characters’ broadest characteristics. In addition to Jack with signature stubble and Kate with characteristic cleavage, the range includes 2.4-inch representations of Sawyer, Sayid, Hurley, Locke, Charlie, Desmond and Ben. Each figure comes with a tiny trademark accessory. If you’re a Lost fan, but new to buying Kubricks, you should know that the collectible figures are sold by the case, carton and box according to individual ratios. A carton contains 96 boxes, which means that (for example) 19 of those boxes will contain a Jack figure, 12 will have Sayid and just one (known as a “chase figure”) will reveal Ben. Collect them all and remember, if you get doubles, you can always kitbash your own Dharma Initiative.

Even if you don’t travel a lot, you’re probably already familiar with the following stereotypical image of an eco-conscious traveler: Birkenstocks on calloused feet, an unruly mane and facial hair, reeking of patchouli, and vegetarian. I swear on my mother’s name: I’ve actually met a few with the magic amalgamation of these characteristics in the flesh and blood in my backpacking days, poked and sniffed them, and saw they were for real. But it was inevitable this type of approach to living on the road would earn a clean shave and a new image.

Wend Magazine’s focus stems from adventure travel high on activism. This is no do-gooder magazine though. Told through first-person narratives, travelers share their stories straight-up, from a trip through the Sahara desert to climbing in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay. It’s obvious that the stories are chosen for their inspirational factor, but in the end the overall concept is to be applauded, even if the design needs to be improved a little bit. Head to the site to get a free look at their latest issue, but subscriptions (printed on sustainably harvested wood, no less) are available to the electronic-averse.

There’s no chill in the air just yet, but we can sense it coming. You better face the fact it’s going to be winter soon, and with that comes prime snowboarding weather. Why not celebrate the imminent frosty season by grabbing yourself new deck? The masterminds at Monument Snowboards (or MNMT) have just what you’re looking for with their new line of boss boards for ‘08-’09, featuring some seriously sick designs from a slew of talented artists such as KRINK, Kime Buzzelli, and Todd Tourso. In additon to their top gear, MNMT has also launched a brand new site that allows you to take a gander at both the brand’s hard and soft goods, check out a few blogs, and become part of the Monument consortium by signing up for their newsletter.
