My favorite neighborhood sneaker dealers at ALIFE have just released another collaboration with Barney’s New York– a pair of classic high’s called The Orange Pack. Full grain perforated leather with orange accents– crisp, clean, and ready for the courts, sidewalks, and well, everywhere else. They’ll be available (in limited quantities I would guess) at select Barney’s locations and if you’re not in the city, through their online store.

Out today is Mr. Scruff’s Ninja Tuna. His first LP in six years, the marathon DJ is releasing his album on a brand new label (also called Ninja Tuna) which is his brainchild in collaboration with Ninja Tune, a label considered the standard for DJs, hipsters, and aficionados alike. The album features the familiar funk and dance style of a classic Scruff, not venturing too far from his previous Trouser Jazz, but certainly showing more developed production know-how. You can pick up the album through Ninja Tune. More at mrscruff.com.

A couple of years ago, we told you about the first fair trade sneaker, a simple affair in the Adidas Samba vein. Three years later, France’s Veja has seven full sized collections, including a line for kids and even little tiny baby sneakers. The kicks have gotten undeniably hotter and branched out into a few different incarnations. Our favorite is the mid-top Grid in Cyprus.

Dominic Harris is impressing us lately. First, his work with Cinimod Studio for the interior design of our favorite frozen yogurt in London, Snog. Now he has birth the “Exploding Globe of Light.” The title is enough to impress us, and probably spawn an entire series of sci-fi books. The light sculpture was created for the launch party in Hoxton Square for the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards. Attendees had punch cards they could use to choreograph the colors coming from the globe.

This post is kind of a double post: first Dominic’s light sculpture is awesome, but the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards is like a Josh Spear dream (shouldn’t we be judges or something for this?). The awards are judging the interior design of bars and restaurants, not the food. Entries submission are just starting, but we will be following these awards more when the time comes. Expect tasty and well designed chairs.

It’s hard to forget an act with a frontman as memorable as Robert Smith. You might have thought that by now he’d have toned down the ragged goth look, but he’s retained it along with his signature voice and songwriting styles. The Cure is back with their lucky thirteenth album 4:13 Dream. While format details and release dates have been continuously changing for this album, what you can expect according to the most recent news from Smith is a collection of songs from the more upbeat side of The Cure. Based on the singles and last month’s Hypnagogic States remix EP, we anticipate a pretty solid album out October 27th.

A toothpick holder that becomes a spiny animal and salt and pepper shakers disguised as trees are just two of  the freshly released items in the second series of Alessi’s Orientales animated tableware collection. We first featured Giovannoni Stefano and Takeda Rumiko, the first of which we featured a few months ago. The aforementioned Forrest Gump set is probably the best of the new line, but a couple of the Sweet Fish castors would look great on any kitchen shelf too. I can’t wait to see what’s next so I can have an excuse to spend more time in the kitchen.

Our fine friends at Mimoco never seem to run out of ways to make flash drives fun. While there are already seemingly countless members of the Mimobot army, what’s the harm in introducing one more? So without further ado we bring you the updated version of rayd8gig. The ever-so popular core 2 mimobot model has received a super-limited edition makeover, displaying an inverse color variant from that of the original. With only 200 of these glow in the dark babies being unleashed on the public, collectors best get their move on before they’re all gone.
