Our good pals over at Threadless are at it again for the holiday season, but this time they’ve gone recession conscious and dropped the price on hundreds of t-shirts to $5.00. Seriously awesome and unnecessary ($15 is cheap as it is), but what a great gift. Go check it out and be nude no more, like, now.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and despite the fact Thanksgiving has yet to hit our friends at PSFK are already looking to next year. The always prescient Piers and company have gotten a head start on the new year with their “Good Ideas in 2009 Report”. The 80-page book aimed at those whose interests lie in branding, marketing, and business strategy, focuses on nine innovative ideas and just how they’re being carried out. Available on Blurb.com, the volume takes a look at everything from socially conscious companies that make use of new technology to a ping pong haven/art gallery/drive-in theater on New York’s Lower East Side. For a closer look at the future, you can waste your time inventing a time machine or you could just pony up a few bucks for the book.

Want to see a life-size puppet get dropped from off a bridge and a crane and smash into bits? Click here. The project is directed by Argentinian performance artist Rodrigo Gorosito, which takes a look a crowd reactions during an important safety lesson: don’t fall from great heights or you will break. We at JoshSpear.com would like to abide by Gorosito’s safety lesson, but throwing a puppet off a bridge sounds really fun. Maybe we can play with Gorosito when he does his next piece of performance art.

There are artists who create crazy amazing paintings, and then there are artists who create entirely new worlds. Sickboy falls into the latter, and his new show in London, the Stay Free Factory, is a chance for us to enter that world. In his first major solo show Sickboy is shooting for the moon. He has transformed an entire Victorian Grade II listed building in East London into a 3D playground. He isn’t denying the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory connection — actually he’s completely embracing it by giving away the installation to the lucky recipient of a golden key. The project is only up for a week, so make sure you plan a visit. While only one person can win, many can buy. A new set of prints, paintings and mini installations will be available for purchase on the launch date. Don’t miss it. No pictures of the factory just yet, but they will be coming.

Date: December 4th through 10th; noon till 6pm

Location: The Tramshed, 6-8 Garden Walk, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3EQ / Tube: Old Street

You don’t know where to go, but you know what you feel. As long as that feeling is naughty, hungover, energetic, romantic, sophisticated, chilled, girly, manly or broke then we know how to help you narrow down your search. New website IFeelLondon.com has just launched a guide to the city based on the above moods. Simply click how you feel and nice map will pop up showing you where to engage that feeling. Plus, they make it super easy to edit/add in placemarks. Who would have guessed East London would have so many places for the hungover? The maps are also available for London, NYC and Toronto.

Got the tongue twisties when trying to say “Auf wiedersehen” to the new German girl in your building? Or perhaps English is your second language, and you almost have a panic attack before saying “beach”, for fear it will come out sounding like something not so pleasant? Have no fear, for Forvo is here. A way less foulmouthed and organized version of Gringoes.nu, it similarly relies on the help of people like you and me to add recordings to help others learn to pronounce words in different languages. The variety of tongues stretch from Afar to Zulu — there are 196 languages in all. The only thing that’s missing is a dictionary, which makes all the difference between “beach” and the other “b” word. Nonetheless, I can’t think of a more fun and surmountable New Year’s resolution than learning a new language.

One of our favorite watch forums, Watchuseek.com and Horloges Magazine are teaming up for a two day watch fair for independent (read: small/boutique) watch brands. Watch 2008 will be held on December 6th and 7th at Castle Hoogenweerth in Masstricht, Netherlands. I am particularly excited about this conference because it features brands that are obscure even to many watch aficionados. Besides being able to meet representatives from brands such as Anomino, Limes, and my current favorite Stowa, attendees can participate in round table meetings on interesting subjects such as how to recognize counterfeit watches. Tickets are EUR 35.00. If you’re interested in attending, please visit watch2008.nl for more details.
