Beautiful/Decay’s apparel side is all grown up and has its own site. BeautifulDecayApparel.com keeps you posted on upcoming releases, media freebies, and news about the B/D apparel artists. One of the sweetest new features is the regularly updated blog that provides sneak peaks at new gear, events, and everything happening with the brand. We were kind of hoping for an improved B/D experience; a way to get a little more insight into their artists. Now that it’s been done, we can turn our hoping energy to the economy.

If only more online stores had a typeface purchase option. Japanese design firm LoWorks sells books, DVDs, and toys when it isn’t busy being awarded Favourite Website Awards‘ Site of the Day and collaborating with Nike and Yahoo. Takashi Murakami hasn’t got anything on the imaginative iPod video and Nano skins that art director and LoWorks CEO Haruki Higashi has created. The bright and often elephant-themed work looks best on screen, but T-shirts suffice in a pinch.

Kidrobot is schooling poser-punks with a history lesson packaged as a vinyl toy. When they drop the latest incarnation (#16) of their logo/mascot today, you’ll find that the sentiment screams: punk’s not dead! In an inspired move, Kidrobot produced a trio of Kidpunks, each wielding a standout album and wearing the respective T-shirt of the years 1977, 1980 and 1984. The Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys and Black Flag are represented by the 8-inch figures, which will run you $50 each. Later this month, an ultra-limited fourth variant will be released at the London Kidrobot pop-up store at Selfridges. Wonder what album that figure will hold? I’m guessing The Clash and hoping for X-Ray Spex.

Recently, photographer Chris Hornbecker celebrated the one-year anniversary of the start of his personal project: 1 Millimeter a Day. For every day of 2008, this professional photographer — whose work you’ve seen in ads for Nike, W+K, and EA — shot an image with a focal length that was one millimeter longer than the one he shot the day before. Most of Hornbecker’s photographs, which began at 14mm, within this project were taken outdoors and play with light and perspective. One of our favorites is a sensual, layered, black-and-white image or the rain. Hornbecker will finish his project when his lens reaches its maximum adjustment at 400mm on the 22nd. We’re eager to find out what he’s got planned next.

If you’re positively giddy about the new iTunes pricing, then you’ll probably also be excited to hear that Speck has unveiled a four new cases to hold and protect that pricey notebook of yours from the elements – including your klutzy roommate. Need to carry your computer like a turtle? Opt for the AftPack. Need to present yourself with as streamlined and ready for business? Then the PortPack or CorePack is what you want. Merely need to put your notebook to sleep in a soft, comfy blanket? Snag the Tuckpack (pictured above). Already have a laptop sleeve? Well, good on ya.

Converse is an interesting shoe company. It’s definitely one of the originals, and while it’s the go to shoe for every hipster minimalist out there, it also appears to sneakerheads with their play on materials, colorways, and collaborations (Varvatos, anyone?). Always one to extend the party, Converse continues it’s 100th year with the announcement of the “Shoes Inside Books” pack. At first glance, the Chuck Taylor Hi’s look like your run of the mill Converse, but the packaging is what sets shoes apart.  The company — now a subsidiary of Nike — has created a limited edition of 1000 books, each of which contain a pair of shoes inside. The book details the history of the brand and features 100 interviews with a veritable who’s who of today’s biggest stars. There’s no word on a drop date, but there will be three colors (white, black, red) and two sizes (24 and 27cm). Keep your eye out for this unique packaging idea.

Krudmart has always packed some pretty ill gear, and the new site makes it way easier to find stuff you want within their catalogue. Simply select any category, price, size, color, or brand and you get a list of results narrowed down to your specifications. No more finding what you want and then realizing they don’t have it in your size. They just got a bunch of new arrivals from 10 Deep that look pretty sick. Check it out at krudmart.com.
