Back in the December, we made mention of MoMA’s delightful holiday cards, and now, with their new collection, Destination Seoul, the MoMA Store presents more items that you’re sure to stick on your wish list. Ranging from tees to tranquil bird and cloud shakers, to a bibimbap cell phone charm — we’ve gone a bit krazy for Korea. And, because these items from emerging designers combine functionality (thank you spoon bottle opener) with innovative design, we know we’d they’re not going to end up in our drawer of international junk.

Reef the Lost Cauze has been making moves in Philadelphia since well before his debut, but the Army of Pharoahs MC is bringing real heat with his sophomore record A Vicious Cycle. The same grit and grime that made him an underground favorite pares with refined production. The result is a catchy, yet not poppy, sound that we are hearing more and more today. Beats by Marco Polo and Stress The White Boy compliment Reef’s consistently engaging rhyme style. If you live in Philly, you’re bound to see Reef play sooner or later, and if not keep an eye out for his tour dates.

The first time I saw Golem was at a Jewish wedding, which was an amazingly perfect introduction. The stage antics and drunken styles of front man Annette Ezekiel Kogan drive the polka-on-speed grooves belted out by a five piece band. Since then they’ve gained a little more speed and have gotten some favorable press leading up to their new release, Citizen Boris. This is one of those sounds that stands out while other bands crunch together the same old stuff with new lyrics. Check them out at golemrocks.com.

In case the SNL Digital Shorts “Lazy Sunday” and “Jizz in my Pants” haven’t convinced you of the genius of The Lonely Island comedy trio, their latest club banger is sure to make a fan out of anyone. Collaborating with autotuner king T-Pain, they managed to put out a song that not only is hilarious but actually sounds like a Top 40 hit. I’d highly recommend opening up both the video and a page with the lyrics so you can follow along.  Demonstrating that they are not only musical geniuses — but also marketing guru’s as well — they released the music video this past weekend on Saturday Night Live. Today their first album, Incredibad, drops in stores.

After years of kicking around the New York scene, Leif Parsons will be enjoying his first solo show this February. The artist’s personal work tends to stray towards the surreal, using unusual perspectives, unexpected line drawings, and a bold use of color. He pushes the viewer to contemplate the intention behind each piece, creating commissioned illustrations for such regarded publications as The New York Times. These images have more obvious social implications, but are no less thought-provoking. We’re hoping that when the show opens on February 20th, at the Wild Project gallery in New York’s East Village, the work he’s selected feature a mix of both.
