Here’s another umbrella to fight the rain — literally. It’s mostly a defensive battle, though. You will never prevail unless you have the courage stop hiding and attack. The Ninja Umbrella shows those angry clouds that you mean business, and may even cause people on the sidewalk to keep their distance.

Artoyz Elements Alpha Series was released throughout France this past weekend and is heading for U.S. shores next. The series is the inspiration of French artist Easy Hey from the Delkographik collective and proposes that all matter in the world is based on the four elements of water, air, earth and fire. Once the four new platform shapes were formed, Elements Prologue and Elements First Degree quickly followed. But now, the pièce de résistance is here: The Elements Alpha Series is made up of 22 gorgeous figures by 20 international designers: SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST (deep breath) iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS, Supakitch,  Bwana Spoons and Jean Spezial. Individual figures are expected to cost about $10. If you buy a case of 25, you’re guaranteed 19 out of 20 unique figures. If you buy just one case of blind-boxed figures this year, this is the one to get.

Recently touring with Ok Go and (currently) with Bloc Party, New York based indie band Longwave is bringing their dynamic and fast-paced sounds to audiences east of the Mississippi. The band formed in 1999, and after a three-year hiatus, they’re back with Secrets Are Sinister. Laden with riffy solos and the tendency to build up to a climatic end, the music is voluminous. Some have likened their sound to Radiohead and The Strokes, and while I get these qualities in Longwave, I think their sound is a little bit more fast paced and edgier. Their album is out now on Original Signal recordings. You can watch their latest music video for “No Direction” here.

Takashi Murakami, the Japanese artist who makes intriguing work out of cartoon mushrooms and whose style we most covet, currently has a retrospective going on at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The best part is SuperTouch is giving us a personal tour of the exhibition narrated by the artist himself. Even if your Japanese AND your Spanish are a little rough, you’ll get a kick out of seeing the evolution of a master’s art. For the full tour, click here.

There’s not a huge amount of crossover between athletes and toy collectors. But when that intersection occurs you’ll be sure to find a handful of fit fanboys — like the ones drooling over art superstar KAWS and Lance Armstrong’s bike collaboration. Supertouch has been breaking the news of Lance’s “Stages” art show, which brings together 30 artists for a summer exhibit in Paris with all profits going to LIVESTRONG. To draw attention to the show, Lance will be riding several art bikes on the Tour de France. From a distance, the KAWS bike doesn’t stand out, but get up close and you’ll see his trademark teeth and XX eyes. Lance had KAWS hide the slogan, “Winners Not Whiners” on the bike’s bottom bracket, too. Lots more pictures here and below.
