Last week we posted about The Sound Advice Project and how its tangible soundwave technology might better translate into an anniversary gift. A reader wrote in suggesting that the idea had been co-opted by David Bizer who also sells soundwave-based jewelry through Ponoko. So I’ll take this opportunity to point out another artist who has been working in the field of wearable waves. Sakurako Shimizu made some of the coolest rings, cuffs and brooches I saw last year. Unlike the anti-drug reminders of the Sound Advice Project, the Brooklyn-based artist used soundbytes you’d actually want to hear and wear, like wedding vows and giggles. So check out the project and both artists: there’s more than enough sound to go around.

We’re no strangers to Rivet gear. With their usual style of simple and functional design, Rivet gives us a couple of sleek new carrying cases for your Apple products. The Horizontal and Vertical sleeves, stitched from durable fabric and vintage leather, fit your 13″ or 15″ MacBooks. Of course, there’s something brand new for your iPhone as well: the Rivet Soft Sleeve, a slick gray number to protect your most valued pocket item. In addition to the new cases, Rivet is still innovating on the clip that gave them their name. Check out the whole line-up at rivetnow.com.

We all try to eat healthy, but what do you do when it’s mid-afternoon and you need a pickup, but you need to stay at work? Usually that means a vending machine snack. That was until we discovered Graze. It’s a simple concept: fresh fruits are delivered to your office every couple days. Their website allows you to choose the natural snack you’d like and how often. Then, whatever day you select, a little box arrives just in time. Unfortunately it’s U.K. only. Delivered boxes begin at £2.99, which usually is cheaper and easier than running down to corner shop, and Graze has a special promotion running for half off your first box.

We’ve blogged about Parra almost as many times as he’s created products for Apple. Now that he’s released his own iPhone app, we can declare our love official. It comes as the latest piece for Incase products curated by Arkitip. The application includes some very basic games like memory, follow the leader and Simon, all sprinkled with Parra’s lightning and clouds design. It seems like great fun for kids, but really attractive for adults. And Parra’s app is free (no ads or pop ups), so no complaining. Here’s a link to the iTunes store. Now go and teach your children about good design.

We love sheep. They’re soft, they’re adorable, and they provide those of us who are knitters with wool. But we especially love sheep when dozens of them are covered with LED lights at night and herded so that they appear to be playing Pong, recreating the Mona Lisa, and exploding into fireworks. The whole thing took place in Wales, and though it’s kind of lame the whole thing is just an excuse for Samsung to show off their LED technology, we aren’t ashamed to admit we found it entertaining. The only livestock meme we like better? Fainting goats.

Costa Rican illustrator Jonathan Rodriguez has been futzing around with typography, hellbent on giving characters character through his site Pixel Cannibal. In the case of his Salomon Octopus snowboard, he makes optopus words. This year, in one of his editorial illustrations, he had the word “pollute” trail a female figure so that it appeared as if it were her dirty feet that had made the letters in the snow behind her. And in his Eat Me piece, Rodriguez created a sweet, Alice-in-Wonderland-inspired typeface surrounded with flowers that he juxtaposed with the image of a human skull. Totally inspiring stuff.
