Just like I thought Google Earth was the next ’sliced bread,’ I’m really excited about what 3D Live Stats is doing to change the way we view our website data. Long gone are the days of interpreting spreadsheets and 2D bar graphs for clients– 3D Live Stats makes your data jump out of the screen at you in real-time so you– and more importantly– the customer can actually see the data. The program displays data in several ways: (1) shows a light beam in the exact location where each user is located, (2) counts your daily and yearly users with a live counter in the upper right hand corner of the interface, (3) displays the most recent locations of your users via a scrolling list in the lower left hand corner, and (4) scrolls search terms across your screen that led users from search engines to your site. Plus, if you have an interactive white board or SMART board, you can rotate the earth to view your stats in the way Tom Cruise did in Minority Report. 3D Live Stats is supposedly the World’s first designed website statistics program. If anyone knows of similar services popping up, I’d love to know about them.

I’m really into this. I use a “poor man’s version” of called Gvisit. It uses Google Maps to locate your users. http://www.gvisit.com

Ironically, Google has this in their headquarters, running on a 42″ plasma screen. I am pretty sure it was completely written by Google too. I wonder if 3D Live Stats thought they were original.

Jeffrey Veen demoed a stats web app a few years ago at the WE04 conference.
The basic premace was similar to a lot of web 2.0 ventures, in that you could sign up for free to get a few of the features, or become a paid member to get the whole shebang.
The interface itself was quite different to 3D live stats, but the basic concept was the same.

I have a feeling though that most of what he showed then eventually got rolled into Google’s Reader.

The most impressive Web Analytics I have seen are from http://www.visualsciences.com . Their biggest client is the U.S. Government, if that says anything about it (scary indeed). I attended an overview led by one of their engineers last week and it blew my mind.
