There I was planning my bank holiday weekend trip to the coast to check out this great Beach Cafe only to find out that it wont be ready until the New Year, check out the pictures of the structure being built on their website. Thomas Heatherwick’s beautiful new beach cafe is the latest addition to the UK’s burgeoning collection of innovative seafront architecture. Heatherwick has been best known for his superb sculptures such as his amazing blue carpet in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The exterior of his latest design, his first building in the UK, is modeled on driftwood and will house a traditional English cafe serving locally produced food and seaside favorites, potted shrimps and cockles. Located in the traditional West Sussex town of Littlehampton, it is perfectly placed for beach fun and walks inland on the stunning South Downs.

Even if it is not entirely developed. I could see a potential resort in there. Did you say, it will start operating next year? Well, just in time then!

I live in Littlehampton and the whole development is nothing but a farse.
It looks awful, how anyone can call it beautiful is beyond a joke.
its a rusty piece of metal which looks completly out of place.
If anyone can even consider it beautiful then they must be mad.
AS FOR THE OWNERS, WHAT A JOKE!

as i have already written above, there are a few things a little odd….to say the least.

one thing i dont get is why on earth is a beach cafe (ok the design is great) in the top 5 beach cafes in the WORLD???? yes WORLD….. the guardian nominated. jesus christ. get real people. its getting a joke!! there are thousands around the world…..many of them open since gernerations in much nicer locations and littlehampton stinks once the tide is out.
with much better reputations. so please somebody tell the world what is so great on a cafe what hasnt hardly opened its doors to the public to nominate it the 5 best beach cafe in the WORLD. yet again..who would be surprised. with the links to the papers ect,.

good luck
Tino
