Habitat Shoes Online - Josh Spear, Trendspotting

Habitat Kansas based Habitat Shoe Store recently launched a nice looking online store– handpicked shoes from brands like Medium, PF Flyers, Camper, Gola and some denim for both guys and dolls. Although the selection isn’t enormous, I love seeing any hand picked collection like this. Who would have known a husband and wife team from middle America’s Kansas City had style, amazing. Check them out!

Way to build them up just to slap them down with the anachronistic Midwestern slam, which reeks of coastal elitism and is just plain bad form. This also displays a suprisingly pre-internet attitude (especially for someone so well traveled!). You should know better to think that people in the middle still sit around letting style pass them by. Award-winning design (ex. Target’s ad campaigns) and trend-setting creativity (ex. Threadless) comes out of the Midwest all the time. Come on.

Habitat Shoe isn’t located in Kansas it’s located in The Crossroads Art District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. I was there last Friday night, great store.

While its nice that Josh Spear has made notice of one of the latest- and greatest- stores in Kansas City (MISSOURI), its sad that his perception of people here is so off. Is he also surprised we have indoor plumbing? Who would have known a well rounded, well travelled journalist from Boulder could be so ignorant- amazing!
