The Ice Jacket is a nifty mold that fits around most liquor bottles– you can fill the mold water and then freeze it– the results, a bottle of booze encased in a jacket of ice. It’s as easy as placing the bottle into the base, slipping on the sleeve (jacket) and sealing the bottle in shut. You fill the whole assembly with warm water, plug the top and place it in your freezer. Take it out a few hours later and voila, your ice cold lquor will stay just that, ice cold. The site says in a 70 degrees Fahrenheit room the ice encasing will melt at about an ounce an hour. They also claim it fits ‘bottles of all sizes’, but something tells me it still wont fit my giant 1 liter bottle of Bong Vodka. Via BoingBoing

Josh is on the mark in terms of the Ice Jacket and how it works. It’s a little more intricate than the description reveals, but it is easy to use and the end result is killer. Place the bottle on the Base and use the Riser if you have a shorty like Absolut. Slip the Sleeve into position. There is a seal toward the top of the Sleeve and it keeps water from traveling up the bottle’s neck during the freezing process. This allows the assembly to be placed in any position within the freezer- you can even stack your Ice Jackets. The Sleeve and Base are sealed with three clips. Once you take it out of the freezer and let the assembly stand for a few minutes, just release the clips and the Sleeve pops off the assembly. As you see, this reveals your brand of choice now encased within 5/8″ of ice. The Base remains attached and acts as a grip and the amalgamation stands on the Tray to further enhance presentation. Because the vodka within the bottle is so cold, it actually keeps the ice surrounding the bottle insulated from within. Melt rates are very slow and we have observed that the frozen libation is generally long gone before the integrity of the assembly is compromised. The next round of pix to go up on the Ice Jacket web site (www.icejacket.com) will include bottles that have been decorated for theme-specific events, so make sure to stay tuned.
