I raved about CoverFlow back in July– the brilliant application that allowed OS X users to browse their entire iTunes collection by album cover. I guess it’s clear Apple was listening to the masses (or reading this blog): Today’s ‘Showtime’ announcement included an update to iTunes which integrated the application as a new feature almost flawlessly. I just hope the original creators of CoverFlow received some kind of compensation for their idea. Maybe they were acquired…Anyone know?

Update: Yep, they were acquired, congratulations CoverFlow!

Looks like they were aquired, this was posted to the Coverflow website:

“We are pleased to announce that all CoverFlow technology and intellectual property was recently sold to Apple. It has been incorporated into the latest version of iTunes. Please visit http://www.apple.com/itunes

I’m probably not the first to tell you this but …

Yes, Coverflow was aquired by Apple

It all makes me very happy as I have hoped for this from the first time I saw the static mock up on The Treehouse + The Cave blog a year ago.

Great, they deserve it!

Sadly, the iTunes integrated Cover Flow doesn’t appear to have a full screen mode. Hopefully they’ll get it so you can have the Cover Flow on one full monitor and work on another while you’re jammin’.

Wired sez the UI wars are coming between Apple and TiVo, we think there’s more to it than their skirmish.

congrats CoverFlow

ON THE WISHLIST: Apple 60″ 1080p running OS X. That would dominate my living room

Hi, just a minor nitpick, but you have a spelling mistake in your title on this page: you wrote, “iTunes Integrates Coverflow” instead of “iTunes Buys Coverflow Idea And Includes View Which Looks Superficially Like It At First Glance But Is Missing All Its Nicest And Most Useful Features”.
