It sounds like you are having a great trip so far, Josh, and I’m so psyched for you. What an adventure. I would tell you not to work so hard on your vacation, but the best thing about people like us is that we have a very hard time drawing the line between work and play. Good on ya’ man! I can’t wait to see more pictures.
Some very nice pictures. To tell the truth, after some days in Kyoto I was pretty much fed up with temples and shrines. But be sure to check out Fushimi Inari Taisha, with it’s thousands of red gates. Amazing!
And if you get the chance: visit Naoshima for the best museum experience you (well, I at least) can imagine.

Josh,
You really need to start posting these pictures later in the week. Seeing these pictures so early in the week makes me want to quit my job, and makes me insanely jealous of you. Also, I love the site. Keep up the good work.
Excellent pictures! I see Kiyomizudera in there… were you able to go to Kinkakuji as well? I have to agree with snoeksen’s comment, though. After living in Japan for a long, long time, I got pretty tired of seeing temples, temples, and more temples.
i was in kyoto for just 1 day too…
i hit this shrine, as well as one that was covered in gold, surrounded by water.
did you make it to that one?
nice pics.
Nice shots, especially of kiyomizudera – one of my favourite places in kyoto. it’s nice, and difficult to see your photos, as I just this week missed out on landing an internship in kyoto. dammit!
