The guys over at Mais Soma magazine that we love so much in Sao Paulo have turned me on to the rumblings of a new-samba musician named Kiko Dinucci, who, with his band BandoAfromacarronico, has been drumming up some hype in Sao Paulo. He’s rapidly gaining new fans for his musical stylings that combine an already amazing sound with genres from traditional Afro-Brazilian culture like jongos and lundus. Dinucci isn’t just involved in music though; he’s also a fine graphic artist who lends his work to comic books and films as a documentary filmmaker. As it turns out, people outside of Brazil are already getting to know his name: the musician recently signed to a small label in Hollywood called One Cell Records that, judging by its roster, sees the value in the new guard of Brazilian musicians.
