Recently touring with Ok Go and (currently) with Bloc Party, New York based indie band Longwave is bringing their dynamic and fast-paced sounds to audiences east of the Mississippi. The band formed in 1999, and after a three-year hiatus, they’re back with Secrets Are Sinister. Laden with riffy solos and the tendency to build up to a climatic end, the music is voluminous. Some have likened their sound to Radiohead and The Strokes, and while I get these qualities in Longwave, I think their sound is a little bit more fast paced and edgier. Their album is out now on Original Signal recordings. You can watch their latest music video for “No Direction” here.
