Synth-pop wasn’t a retro fad when the Pet Shop Boys first hit the scene. And there’s something about sugary, yet well-written songs that are more appealing when you know it’s not just an ironic throwback. Yes, the tenth studio LP from this electronic duo is due out in a week, but today we get a grand package in their first single, “Love etc.” Along with the track and the otherwise unreleased b-side, the boys are dropping a remix EP that takes on “Love etc.” from various prominent producers. The Pet Shop Boys themselves describe it as “‘a post-lifestyle anthem which sounds like nothing we’ve done before.” They’re right.

Weeeeee! I couldn’t be happier. As long at the Boys keep their synthpop goodness, I’m still on their love boat.
