Phx1Phoenix is hands down one of my favorite bands and their new album, “It's Never Been Like That”, released May 15, 2006, has only fueled my loyalty! Their 3rd studio album embraces elements of 70's, 80's, and 90's pop with songs like Long Distance Call, Napoleon Says and hints of fraught romance on tracks One Time Too Many and Lost and Found. As if this absolute gem of an album wasn't enough, Phoenix is also launching the new dighitbook exclusively at Colette. A cross between a book and digital music, the dighitbook is 40 pages that take you into the universe of the majestic Phoenix. It also comes with a gift code that allows you to download the album and a bonus track from iTunes. This is the CD for summer, so buy one, buy both, just get it and enjoy!

i can’t agree with you more – this album is incredible.. after hearing their first album, united, i was instantly hooked, buying anything and everything by them (although i was slightly disappointed with alphabetical – i even ordered a rare japanese import to get their first ever important track)… If you’re looking for something similar to appease that craving for well crafted french pop, give zoot woman a listen.. you’ll like them..

but, “it’s never been like that” is heavily dominating my listening time – this is cooler than cool..

all i can say is “longtimenoseeeee, longtimenosaaaaayyy”

peace

Glad you are enjoying the CD, I usually am able to decide my favorite track on an album, but am torn between several on “it’s never been like that”. Phoenix will be at ACL this year which I am sure will be spectacular! Hope you can make it!

Must be a typo, because you’d never start a piece about your favorite band calling them THE Phoenix would you? Meh.

Anyway, I saw them live in Paris a couple of weeks ago and they are excellent. Incredibly tight live, and they played an acoustic cover of Playground Love by Air which was very cool.

Go see ‘em.

PS – Napoleon Says is my personal tune of choice from the album.
