At the far end of a catalogue that has, thus far, spanned nearly two decades and countless iterations mainstream music, the darkness is still present for PJ Harvey. Her new album, a collaboration with songwriter/producer John Parish, has the same sad tinge we remember fondly from ‘Down by the Water’ but with more complex composition on each track (all music written by Parish). Harvey’s lyrics are unconventional in the same way they were in years past, untarnished by the bastardization of rock that has spared almost no influence once original. A Woman A Man Walked By is out today.
