It’s finally 2008, and we all know what that means: Dub-ya is on his way out of the White House. Most of us are thrilled about that; some of us are not so thrilled about that (ahem, some), but the fact remains that change is coming, and we’re as much a part of it as the presidential hopefuls stepping up their campaigns for the final push. One thing about this election season that has been refreshing to me is the slew of interesting candidates that we’ve had to choose from. So many different religions; the first woman; the first African American — our next president might represent something truly historical, and I find that, in itself, incredibly exciting.

Aside from environmental issues, this site has generally kept it’s distance from Washington, D.C. On the other hand, nothing stirs up a good debate like politics — and 2008’s elections are shaping up to be something impossible not to talk about. So, at the risk of getting risque, we want to know your current stance on the elections. Who’s your candidate? Why do think they have what it takes to clean up America’s current messiness? Is there one candidate that will send you to a cave should they take office? Also, if you happen to be reading from somewhere other than the US, feel free to jump in — we want to know how you think we can turn our country around, too!

Couldn’t be happier with Obama’s win last night. Clinton, as well as all the republican candidates except Mccain would make an expat out of me.

I want Ron Paul to get the legalization thing going on beyond California. Other than that, gimmie any Dem.
However, I love how Rudy G just raised his middle finger to Iowa and didn’t campaign there.

@ Drew: Clinton would make you an expat, but Dubya didn’t? And there’s a reason McCain couldn’t beat Bush eight years ago and won’t win the party this year. He’s a bit crazy.

I think it would be awesome to have a Clinton in the House again and Obama’s charisma is infectious, but all that doesn’t matter because Bush has led the country into a recession. The best candidate will need some serious janitorial skills.

There is something very special going on in America right now. People are rejecting the Clinton brand at every turn. As a conservative, it’s a wonderful thing to witness. Here’s hoping the Republicans can get their act together and nominate someone electable. I’m a Rudy guy, but things are looking iffy all around right now.

The thing is, most of the politicians are saying the same exact stuff – in both parties. There’s very few who are actually being genuine and really standing for a REAL change in America. The ONLY one who’s worth looking at if we want change is Ron Paul.
The guy is the most genuine and caring politician. Dr. Paul makes his desicions based on the Constitution which nobody else does, even though they swear by it. He has the same story every time and it’s so simple, but people don’t listen – they don’t want to listen. He’s the only one up there who is telling the full truth and people need to see this. It’s so incredibly important.

@Matt

Have you seen Rudy’s campaign ad claiming that we need to take action against Iran and Pakistan?

Open your eyes. http://ronpaul2008.com

Ron Paul is as crazy as the rest of them and it looks like popularity of today’s New Republic article is trying to crash their server, but here is the link anyway.

Isolationism and the blind cutting of social programs by some crazy old guy (see aforementioned link) whose literal interpretation of the Constitution (not really what Jefferson had in mind), I compare to Huckabee’s literal interpretation of the bible is not the “change” I am looking for nor my hard working blue collar parents.

Also, to base a choice on the president of the United States on the premise of of the legalization of marijuana is ridiculous. I mean come on, it is a recreational distraction.

George Bush came to Dubai and they announced a public holiday. Why? Becuase they had to close off all the roads to ensure his security.

Now this is fascinating for two reason. Firstly it shows how scared Dubai is of tarnishing it’s global profile. The world is focusing heavily on Dubai right now and the last thing they want is for some idiot to do something stupid and risk the countries stability. The only solution is to shut down the whole city – every major road is closed. EVERY ONE.

Secondly I am amazed at the lengths we are willing to go for Bush. I am shocked and amazed and the stuff he gets away with. If this hapened in Europe all hell would have broken loose. In Greece when Clinton was on an official visit they closed off one road for a few hours for him to pass through. When he did residents threw food at thim from their balconies!

Cannot wait to see the outcome of the election.
