This is an experiment, and I may regret it– but I’m very interested in the answers so I think it’s worth a try. The question: What do you watch? You– the readers of this blog. Many people are saying we’re in the Golden Age of television right now with so many great shows to watch, and so many seemingly easy ways to get them. Are people sick of LOST but still watching it? Can’t wait for the return of Entourage? Die hard OC fans? TiVo 24 Religiously? Nothing at all and avoid TV completely? What does your daily, or weekly TV intake look like? Please Share! If this is successful, I’m going to do open question/conversations once a week.

Every week we DVR 24, Lost, Bones, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother, Numb3rs. Anxiously awaiting The Sopranos and The Shield. Yes, we watch entirely too much TV!

mtheory Friday, 03.30.07 @ 12:25 pm

I’m a TVD kinda guy. Too cheap to pay for basic and certainly too cheap for premium. I just netflix all of the shows that got hyped:

Seinfeld
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Sopranos
Sex in the City
Lost
24

I watch tv to learn tips on how to get women.

zacklur Friday, 03.30.07 @ 12:31 pm

I watch most of my TV with TiVo because my work schedule keeps me pretty busy and I need television to fit into my schedule & not the other way around. The only reruns I’ll watch are old episodes of Six Feet Under or Coupling (BBC America). As for programs, I was hooked on Dexter (Showtime) last season. They’re replaying the first season starting tonight. I’m looking forward to The Tudors. Right now, the shows I’m keeping up with are: Studio 60; 30 Rock; Boston Legal; and House, MD. I generally hate all “reality” programming (but I did get sucked into Treasure Hunters last year–maybe it was the American history aspect). Beyond that, I stick to movies, or episodes of nostalgic TV series that have on DVD and watch sometimes to clear my head late at night.

Jerod Friday, 03.30.07 @ 12:37 pm

Same routine usually every night….reruns of King of Queens, Seinfeild, and Everybody loves Raymond…then Lost on Wednesdays (couldn’t miss an episode of this no matter how bad it is or has gotten)

Rob Friday, 03.30.07 @ 12:40 pm

The Wire
Rome
Entourage
24
Project Runway
anything on Current
Cheaters
Daily Show
Colbert Report

James Friday, 03.30.07 @ 12:54 pm

Food Network. Guys, watch it and learn how to cook for the ladies. And the station IDs and bumpers are really nice.

Danny Friday, 03.30.07 @ 1:08 pm

Oh geez. This could get ugly.

The shows we really “follow”:
-How I Met Your Mother
-24
-Lost
-Ugly Betty
-Grey’s Anatomy
-Entourage
-Top Chef

The shows we Tivo so we don’t have to bother watching the other utter crap on TV:
-NCIS
-CSI
-Numbers

Scrubs is a great time killer as well, although it hasn’t found its way onto the Tivo list yet. Same goes for King of the Hill.

Jamie Friday, 03.30.07 @ 1:09 pm

When are they going to invent the DVR that records 3 things at once and you don’t have to be watching any of them? Because that would be really helpful. My shows, in no particular order:

24
Lost
Bones
House
Veronica Mars
CSI (the original)
Sopranos
and my personal favorite right now: Friday Night Lights

I used to watch Heroes, but missed the last 5 or so episodes. Not sure if I want to download them all before the series returns. Is it worth the effort?

Say what you will, but I love Aaron Sorkin dialog, Bradley Whitford and Amanda Peet, and therefore love Studio 60, which sadly is probably not coming back to finish out the season.

And though my husband loves them, I cannot stand any kind of reality TV or prime-time game shows. I did get a bit sucked into The Amazing Race when the “Hippies” won. My husband loves that show. To me, it’s usually an hour of “Look at the Ugly Americans show their Ignorance and Intolerance.”

The Managing Editor’s Picks:

Since I go to bed too early to see most of the prime time shows, I’ve been streaming the shows I miss off of nbc.com, abc.com, and fox.com (used to have Tivo, but i figure, whats the need now that you can watch the shows directly from the network’s websites) Abc.com just launched a new vid player that is full screen and looks great! The list: Friday Night Lights (love it), LOST, 24, Grey’s, What About Brian (I know, cheesy, but I’m almost 27), The Black Donneleys, Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jeopardy (love me some Alex and some trivia), Planet Earth (the Discovery channel has really outdone itself this time), Nightly News with Brian Williams (out of habit).

Brice Friday, 03.30.07 @ 1:25 pm

Only TV I seem to always watch is Desparate Housewives with my girl. Jeez, that sounds lame. I do have the entire Arrested Development on my iPod if that counts. No actual cable in my place, some sort of free NYC listing of channels. If I had Comedy Central the Daily Show would be a must and the Discorery channel. Boo.

mitch Friday, 03.30.07 @ 1:42 pm

entourage! I watch the reruns of the first two seasons non-stop
the daily show
colbert report
jeopardy
stump the schwab
arrested development reruns
heroes
the riches awesome new cable show
some southpark

conan

Lauren Friday, 03.30.07 @ 1:42 pm

The musts:

The Office
Arrested Development
Extras
This American life
The Daily Show

christopher Friday, 03.30.07 @ 1:46 pm

I gave my television away this year on Jan. 1st, i only rent movies and watch them on my Laptop. i did enjoy Entourage, but will rent the DVD’s once the season ends. so far it’s been 89 days sans television and i’m now 3 books deep this year so far. it’s been quite liberating not to be tied to the ball and chain of TV. funny thing is i work on a TV show.

Adriean Friday, 03.30.07 @ 2:36 pm

Entourage (Tops for me)
The Office (Dwight throwing air punches to Motley Crue in the car..classic!)
Scrubs
30 Rock (Tracy Morgan is gold in this….Who Dat Ninja!?!?)
Sopranos (Whoever says they hate this show is a liar)
America’s Next Top Model (Guilty Pleasure)
Degrassi (Guilty Canadian Pleasure)
Family Guy
Glen Beck (The guy panics about everything)

jess Friday, 03.30.07 @ 2:36 pm

every week.

house
scrubs
heroes
the office
how i met your mother

sarah Friday, 03.30.07 @ 2:56 pm

Call me lame, but the only thing I watch religiously is the Today show.
When I have the patience to watch TV, PBS totally sucks me in.

Gregg Friday, 03.30.07 @ 3:01 pm

Easy.

Scrubs
The Office
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The Colbert Report
The Daily Show
Entourage

PEACE!
ps I really like them when I can get the DVDs and watch at my own leisure. Which means about 4 episodes back to back.

JimmyC Friday, 03.30.07 @ 3:22 pm

I think The Wire is the best show on television. Period. And–for basic cable–the new Battlestar Galactica is great. The third season just ended, but I recommed picking it up on DVD or Netflix.

Jason Friday, 03.30.07 @ 3:29 pm

My wife has the Food Network on whenever I’m not home, we Tivo Lost (she’s given up on it, but I have addiction issues), Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, and The Office. I also like the Sarah Silverman Program.

She likes (and I hate) Grey’s Anatomy as well.

Tony F. Friday, 03.30.07 @ 3:45 pm

Battlestar Galactica
The Riches (trying it)
Carnavale (R.I.P. – *sniff*)
Extras
Studio 60
30 Rock
Heroes

Josh Friday, 03.30.07 @ 3:49 pm

I still watch Lost, but the current season seems to be drifting. If I hadn’t watched the first two seasons, I wouldn’t be watching it now. The shows I try not to miss on t.v. are The Office and Heroes. I also like Bones, House, Charlie Rose, and Late Night With Conan O’Brien.

I don’t have cable, so I get new episodes of Sopranos from BitTorrent (oops), I buy seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm and watch them straight through, and I watch Real Time With Bill Maher on YouTube every weekend.

Andrew Ferguson Friday, 03.30.07 @ 4:01 pm

BattleStar Galactica
Heroes

I haven’t watched tv (cable, satellite, etc) in almost 5 years now. I only watch these via the net.

Peter Friday, 03.30.07 @ 4:12 pm

The show & Why I’ve watched every episode:

24 – Badass, yet completely absurd.
Heroes – Less badass, more absurd. Just a geek.
Lost – Still trying to figure out what the hell is going on, even if it sucks.
Friday Night Lights – Hands down the BEST show of this season. Maybe ever.
Grey’s Anatomy – I made a bet that when every main character has slept with each other the show will be canceled.
The Office – The awkwardness makes me squirm, but it’s just too funny not to watch.
Entourage – No other show has a better grasp on the way guys speak to each other. And it’s a better “rich people” show than the OC.
Rome – Otherwise, ancient civ class would have been a waste.

Always on DVR:
Family Guy
Southpark
Mythbusters
Boy Meets Grill – Bobby Flay is the man

I know that’s a lot, but sadly HDTV & DVR rule my life.

Tink Saturday, 03.31.07 @ 12:29 am

Hey Josh,

I love to watch almost anything and as a result, can find myself completely lost in hours of different shows. Thankfully, I gave up my TV as my schedule is too busy for me to do this anymore, plus I work in the industry anyway – that being said, anytime I go somewhere and there’s a tv or flick on, I zombiefy and veg until being dragged away…

Austin C Saturday, 03.31.07 @ 12:06 pm

Believe it or not, I’m actually enjoying this season of LOST. It seems as if the creators have learned from their mistakes and are starting to resolve some of the conflicts.

House is another favorite. Except for the whole Cameron and Chase relationship – it seems as if the writers are following the ’soap’ style of Grays Anatomy (a show that I absolutely despise).

And then there’s 24. No matter how ridiculous it gets, it’s still the most action packed show out there.

Oh and american idol: that Blake dude is actually entertaining, but Sanjaya has realy f’d things up.

Zana Sunday, 04.01.07 @ 8:22 pm

I only watch Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty & Scrubs religiously. I stopped watching LOST because it doesn’t make sense anymore.

Heroes is on cable tv which is why I never watch it. I’d be a fan if it airs on local tv.

Lisa Thursday, 04.05.07 @ 9:58 pm

If I don’t get to watch The Office I am very cranky. I LOVE to watch House.
South Park is also de riguer. Top Design has been a so-so replacement in the absence of Project Runway.

power_switch Wednesday, 04.16.08 @ 8:17 pm

The Wire
Dexter
Pushing Daisies
Entourage
The Shield

i used to watch The Sopranos, but i am almost embarrased to admit that with how they ended it.

Firefly was a real favorite of mine as well… but i guess that is old news as well
