Tappening’s “Message In A Bottle” campaign against bottled water was a roaring success. The tap drinking crusaders collected one million water bottles to send to Coca Cola CEO Muhtar Kent to protest the pollution caused by bottled water consumption. But at the last minute Tappening had a change of heart. Rather than expend the environmental resources to send a truck to Atlanta and dump the bottles on Coke’s doorstep (giving the soda giant a positive publicity boost when they simply recycled them) they made Tappening Bags. The duffles are made from 100% recycled plastic water bottles and yogurt containers, and remind you the next time you reach for a Poland Spring or Dasani to “Think Global, Drink Local.”

What a brilliant idea. It’s unbelievable to read the facts about tap and bottled water and to think that you would pay for a product that is actually allowed to have traces of e.coli…

Wow! Those guys are smart! I read about them absolutely everywhere. Brilliant idea. I agree with James. How do they think of this stuff??? GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Tappening!!! You have a lot of fans!!! What’s next? Hostile takeover of Coke?

I gotta hop on their website before those bags sell out!

I’ve been following these guys ever since you first wrote about them. Those dudes are seriously good at marketing.I have ordered one of every one of their products. Some are better than others but I must admit, I get comments about how ‘cool” they are whenever I carry one. Most amusing is how the two marketing guys behind it seem to just play with multi nationals like Coke as if it was so easy. And what they do is working…if I can believe everything I read. Those guys either have no fear or are crazy rich that they would taunt Coke the way they do? Or maybe just crazy? No matter-I’m loving the show!
