Last week our friends over at The FADER Magazine made history when they released their entire summer issue as a high resolution PDF. It was available as a direct download or through iTunes like a Podcast. It was definitely a nice thing to do for regular readers, allowing us to take a peak before it hit newsstands– I’d like to call what we saw last week the first ever Zinecast. In the same summer spirit, this week they released a Podcast mixing music from the current issue. It’s available for free as a download from iTunes. Featuring everyone from cover artists Rick Ross and Nina Sky to the lesser known artists, it’s nice to read the Zinecast and hear the tracks at the same time. Full track list and download instructions here.

This is the first, but it won’t be the last. I predict that it won’t just be hipster magazines that leverage this application. For example, I could see The New Yorker doing something similar with some of their longform pieces, such as those by Seabrook, Gladwell, Auletta or Groopman.
