The String Republic is the work of French graphic artist Stephane Bucco. He originally created this project when he noticed the amazing revival of the flip flops and clogs– which reminded him of the French espadrilles his grandfather used to offer him every summer when he was a kid. With a mission to illustrate what happens when graphic design and daily life merge, String Republic and the slogan ‘Make Feet Beautiful’ was born. Bucco went after 12 of the greatest international artists to create their own signature shoe, and to keep things genuine the espadrilles are made in one of the last 4 French factories. I strongly urge anyone interested to check out the entire line–great original work.
