Many will argue that radio, information, and life will be increasingly accessible to all of us via Wi-Fi, but we’ll always need a signal. Montreal-based designer Stefan Dukaczewski helps us envision the day when our clothing helps lead the way. His Wi-Fi sneakers light up to indicate signal strength whenever you walk near a zone.

Each week, JoshSpear.com explores the latest projects by top creative professionals in the Behance Network and highlights a few that are pushing the edge of creative industry. Josh Spear also serves as an Advisor and Guest Curator for the Behance Network.

These shoes are rather hideous. It’s something I’d expect an old man in a retirement home to wear, with the shoes being the special kind that provide extra support for the weak and elderly. And bland black leather?

Not to mention about the practicality of these shoes. Who wants to look down every time to check out a wifi signal? We’ll, before I ask that question, how many times a day do look down at your shoes? I only look at my shoes when I cross my legs in meetings, but I sure wouldn’t be showing off these shoes. My feet would stay planted.

Nice but I prefer the little unit hanging from my keychain!

Gotta agree with Michael. I’d much rather have a WiFi detecting watch. Not that I don’t appreciate the innovation….

Yeah, they are rather atrocious. They could have easily slipped a tiny wifi receiver in the tongue of the shoe instead of on that ugly flap. The shoes themselves remind me of the old school Reeboks…with an ugly flap. To go out on a freakishly geeky limb, it’d be neat to see maybe glasses (here comes the geeky part) possibly reminiscent of the power level detectors in DBZ. Concept being : You just put the thing on and look around and it auto-detects hot spots and you just walk towards wherever you see it in your lens. OR…maybe, considering how wifi is growing to be a necessity, an implant that vibrates or something in your arm? I’m too complicated…

They just need to be white for the Pepere approval!

if only they could integrate this into a mobile phone? Imagine that.

This idea is awful.
