Wonderland is a uniquely positioned, independent, bi-monthly publication for both men and women spotlighting contemporary visual culture - art, design, film - both the influences and the developments, together with the very best fashion, shot by some of the most innovative photographers working today. Published out of London, but with worldwide distribution, Wonderland will entertain, challenge and inform– assisting the reader rather than dictating them, so that they may decide for themselves how to spend those two most valuable commodities: their time and their money. “By combining new talent with new ideas and higher standards, we will push the boundaries and exceed expectations of what a magazine today can be.” Check your local news stands and pick one up!

I first saw Wonderland about 2 years ago when it was featured on BBC2’s Dragon’s Den (an excellent show that offers would be entrepreneurs the chance to pitch thier idea to a panel of investors). Most of the entrepreneurs leave empty handed, however Hugh Gwyther, had a solid pitch and got the money for Wonderland. I was always wondering what happened to him and his magazine. Obviously if Josh has found it then it must be doing well.

good idea and a good mag. thing is there’s another wonderland magazine that appears to come out of germany (in english) and be about architecture. casting my mind back to that dragons den appearance i seem to remember the proprietor saying he’d trademarked the name and peter jones being amazed at that fact (given lewis carol invented the word). if he really has then he should have a chat with the other wonderlanders. google it for more info

It is good to see the launch of Wonderland Magazine. It was quite impressive to see Josh walk away with the full £175,000 for 40% of his business. What impressed me the most was who he received the deal from, Peter Jones. He is a hard arse nut and since he has no business in publication I bet he is laughing at the older Dragons for snatching the deal.

‘Very much looking forward to seeing my first copy….only problem is getting whsmith to stock it closest town… and yes, they as well seemed to think it was an architecture magazine from Germany !! However, I’m sure I’ll get to view it one day soon.

Hugh Gwyther what a guy first of all the pitch he presented to the dragons was top draw, i was so happy for the young man and his dream.
I see things are going well good luck my friend.ps Mr Peter Jones what a role model for people with a dream.

What bullsh*t!!! Being in America, I just saw the pitch featured on Dragon’s Den (BBC America’s Dragon’s Den is apparently two years behind.) last night and was gobsmacked at the sheer lunacy to bank roll a rather pedestrian magazine.

The glossy “I know better than you” fashion/lifestyle pictorial magazines came and went beginning of turn of the 21th century. I don’t know how many of these heavily black and white/sepia pictorials of half nude models or “A-listers” with heavy black rimmed eyes wearing the latest Japanese/French intellectual designer I’ve seen that I thought this guy and his magazine would have been tossed. Boy was I surprised when Peter Jones decided to invest. I thought that being the toughest on the show was indicative of his intelligence. Clearly it is not. Now I believe him to the be the dumbest and clearly his choice was made with his pants rather than his brains.

Just saw this as well. Cee take note: I believe Mr Jones purchased the magazine based soley on the value of the trademark, but as it stands the magazine has put out at least 16 issues. Your spot on about the rest though, more and more I feel like magazines aren’t made for people, but rather for advertisers.

great gamble for Jones, looks like he is laughing all the way to the bank and the a-list parties now.
