A little tip from France led me to this photo on French blog Fubiz, which shows Xbox 360 crashing the recent PS3 launch party in front of the Eiffel Tower by skippering a barge dawning a huge, illuminated Xbox 360 banner past the soirée . While I could care less about either Xbox 360 or PS3– not a gamer (besides Linerider)– I thought this was a pretty profound guerilla marketing display on the part of Xbox 360. In an industry where market share is everything, it looks like the video game giants are pulling out all the stops. Through the comments left on the Fubiz blog post, I found a link to another blog, Giiks, that covered the entire PS3 party, and took video of the Xbox invasion. Beware, it’s all in French, so you kind of have to guess what they’re talking about, unless that is, you speak Francais. Oui Oui!

I am French Canadian so I understand everything on Giiks. Hilarious post! The guy from Giiks was there as one of the invited journalists by Sony. Let’s say that Sony blew it big. The event inside was pretty dull. About 50 persons show up to buy a PS3. Two guys that arrived around midnight decide to wait before buying the PS3 when they heard that so few people have bought one.

The Xbox intrusion was really the highlights of the PS3 party. When the guests saw the Xbox 360 barge, they all started laughing. Their first words were “Excellent Microsoft”, ” Well thought!”, ” Thanks XBox360″.

When interviewed later on that night, the first buyer on the PS3 said that he bought the PS3 for the HD, the Blu Ray and to install Linux. I think Sony is in deep problem. They gave 46 inches Bravia TV to the first buyers in England; it is a huge giveaway.

I do not understand why you contend Microsoft actions. Sony is far from a saint. They have money and the manpower to compete at the same level. Microsoft uses an outdoor space that is available to anyone that want to advertise. I called it freedom of expressions. I do have a large Sony TV in my home, two Xbox 360 and one Wii.
